Guest guest
Thanks Christa – this book looks fantastic! I always try to do things that are easy to do which I can do consistently. If there are too many barriers, especially on diet, it becomes impractical. So the green powder is easy and there are travel packs too so you can take them with you where ever you are. I still have the occasional coffee, but quitting it was a revelation. I drink wine too, but that doesn’t seem to affect me in any way – except of course too much Although...if I then take a green drink after one of those long European meals with lots of wine, it really does stop the hangover. And that was another revelation! So it does neutralise the body rapidly. Not that I needed more proof, but that certainly was a direct cause and effect. Although red wine with less sugar does feel better overall. I don’t have any other sugar in my diet, so this is the one I compromised on because I like it so much! One thing on the vitamins, green drinks, etc. is that taking them twice a day is really helpful. It keeps my energy levels consistent and makes sense to me on nutrients for the body throughout the day. I also started doing a real 'live' green drink per Natalia Rose's books - Life Force Energy Detox diet, and I am loving that! I highly recommend her books. She's pretty militant/hard core tho - even just adding the live green drink for your breakfast is enough to make a huge difference for me. Christa To: rhythmicliving From: nrothrock@... I do about 2 - 3 per day. I was aiming for a more alkaline diet overall. I lost about 7 pounds (changing nothing else in my diet) and my energy levels rocketed. With that success, it has prompted me to try other things all of which have really enhanced my energy levels. I buy powders and stir them in water. Here is a chart of the main ones I use: http://www.energiseforlife.com/green_drink_matrix.php They are all available in the U.S. at much cheaper prices. The Inner Balance one is what I use the most. New here -- can someone share the green drink recipe? -- Thanks Have to chime in that the nutritional changes I've made have made a 500% ( at least <grin>) improvement in my health. And I'm more confident I can use that and supplementation to work with the hormonal shifts -- which I'm more convinced stem from my adrenal fatigue. When I think back about the " pain " i was in being so wired/tired...literally living on 1-3 hours of sleep per night, waking up with a palpatating heart...i could cry. If i had tried to start on 50 mg of idoine then, i'd probalby have bad reactions too. when i saliva tested my adrenals last month and they came up showing me that I was " headed " toward adrenal insufficiency... MY interpretation was that i was on the way OUT. the levels were coming UP. (because 2 years ago, my urine tests showed almost no cortisol) I think the levels coming up is mostly due to supplmentation. My theory on this is, for whatever reasons, childhood environment, or biologically pre-disposed, I am " blessed " with weak adrenal glands. I was never aware. In my 20's i " used " bendydryl to sleep 2-3x/week-- probaby a good sign of poor adrenals. Anyway, going into my 30s and becoming a competive amateur athlete, I truly think I didn't have good diet to support weak adrenals for an athlete. Most athletes, can get buy on a typical diet an increase the antioxidants, etc. But me? the more i raced, the lower my appetite. I just could NOT eat. Which of course, meant i wasn't getting ANY nutrition, especially for the glands i wasing the MOST. sugar and caffeine kept getting me on the bike. The 2nd year of illness, i got wayward with the WP and BHRT... when i should have focused wholy on adrenals first and then possibly adding in estrogen. But i was so desperate to sleep, Ativan wasn't doing a thing for me. I was looking for the magic soluiton. That WP/BHRT of course probalby sent my poor adrenals on a few steps backwards. so....that said, as soon as i started supplementing super high doses of vitamins for adrenals in December, then I added that Green drink ya'll made me do (LOL! Ok, " encouraged " me to do) I think that started preparing my adrenals to be ready. By the time I got to the ND in Feb, he told me only 1 drop iodine more per day until 8 drops. Even then, Sam suggested 3G of Vit C... (which i do)... I'm still just staring my adrenal wellness journey, when in fact, it should have been started 2 years ago. And you know what kills me? When i was misdiagnosed as hypothyroid 2 years ago, I KNEW i had adrenal fatigue, just by google-diagnosing myself. I KNEW that was my problem...but i could not for the life of me figure out how to find someone to help me with it. it took this long to find a support group and ND to go at it. My first doc who helped me with it, only put me on cortef for a short amount of time, when in fact, cortef PLUS the precurssors (idoine, vitamins, etc.) should have been the treatment. After the short " cortef " treatment (2-3 months), she found low estrogen and plopped me on the WP. and i went downhill again from there and 5 months of being on the WP and quitting, landed here, on this list. Thank my lucky stars! I've got a long way to go i think, but i'm on the right path now. You guys are the bee's knees in my opinion. I don't know what to say about the idoine tolerance. I'm just barely familar with it myself. Try the 3 grams of Vit c? (I'll trade you a little more iodine tolerance for a lower pant's size...) >> Thanks for the update, Christa. > > The increased mental clarity is something Lynn R and I have discussed.
