Guest guest
Hi Liz with bp patient, I generally use FE's to maximise the amount the effect of 5ml tds. How much Tarax fol and Scutt are you giving? Have you considered Vib op? Sally O > Dear All > > I have a patient who concerns me. Guest guest
Sally There is no Scutellaria or Tarax fol in the mix at the moment - substituted Passiflora for Scut in August and am using Tarax rad. and Equisetum. If you have any more thoughts I'd be really grateful - and anyone else. Thanks Liz Sally Owen wrote: > > Hi Liz > with bp patient, I generally use FE's to maximise the amount the effect > of 5ml tds. > > How much Tarax fol and Scutt are you giving? Guest guest
Hi Sally, try garlic juice (1 teaspoon per day) and coleus forscolii in the main mix. Never failed me yet. Also no alcohol (forget the red wine, it raises the blood pressure) and plenty of walking. Hope it helps Subject: RE: Hypertension To: ukherbal-list Date: Thursday, 15 January, 2009, 1:05 PM Hi all, I wonder if anyone can help me. I have 3 patients at the moment with high blood pressure which I have had under control and has now gone up again. All of them are in the same area of 160-170/90. It seems whatever track I try, I have tried lots of different combinations of all the favourite herbs (including 40ml of crataegus 1:1 in the formula and now at doses of 10ml tds) for all of them I am still getting nowhere. I am beginning to think herbal medicine maybe just isn't suitable for trying to treating this problem. Any help gratefully acepted! Guest guest
Hi Sally, I get it from Phytoproducts, I also used Mediherb tablets occasionally, but I think that the juice is better (in spite of what Kerry Bones says about the alliin content etc), based on the observation of my patients (anecdotal evidence only). I have some patients who need their prescriptions varied occasionally, I guess the body gets used to the herbs. But I have invariably noticed a consistent improvement in BP readings with the addition of garlic juice. Some of my patients have a break from it every few months, for a couple of months or more. As long as people have no gastric problems they should take the garlic for 6-12 months or so. There was a very good CPP seminar on vascular disease 2-3 years ago, u can get past notes from Pam Bull I think. Guest guest
but surely treatment depends on cause of hypertension, no? first principles? I have a lady who takes, alongside a bit of Crataegus and Tilia, Valeriana FE, Vib op FE, Corydalis, Pulsatilla, Passiflora.......and only these control the hypertension. reduce them and it rises. nne
Guest guest
Of course the treatment depends on the causes. One of the common ones is the loss of arterial elastcity - hence the garlic. I would never say it is a total solution, but I have found that it makes all the difference in cases that do not respond well enough to the Hawthorn/Tillia/yarrow/valerian/vib op etc. combinations. And relaxing herbs often do the trick by themselves. Guest guest
I agree, the few patients where I have had some success in controlling hypertension in needed the addition of nervines alongside the CV stuff. gursewa.  but surely treatment depends on cause of hypertension, no? first principles? Guest guest
I had one patient on whom I tried every anti hypertensive and nervine and relaxing herb in the book - she was great and really worked on diet and took her herbs. Her general health improved enormously, but her BP would not go down. Eventually she used a system called Resparate - if you google it you'll find it - which basically makes you breathe to relax (we had tried this too, but without a machine) and finally this worked. She was one of those people that find it incredibly difficult to relax, appear relaxed, but actually are so tense that they don't know any different. I find raised BP either to be very straightforward to treat, or very difficult - no middle way with this one! best wishes Herbert > I agree, the few patients where I have had some success in controlling > hypertension in needed the addition of nervines alongside the CV stuff. > gursewa. > > > > but surely treatment depends on cause of hypertension, no? first principles? > > I have a lady who takes, alongside a bit of Crataegus and Tilia, Valeriana > > FE, Vib op FE, Corydalis, Pulsatilla, Passiflora.......and only these > > control the hypertension. reduce them and it rises. Guest guest
I had another pt I could not get any success with until I added kidney herbs.Magic! This pt is also VERY sensitive to allergens - her BP spikes to 230/130 if she gets near wheat. She also spikes with emotional strain, but not nearly as much since I added Parietaria.  J Fidler, MCPP, (RH) AHG Herbalist ________________________________ To: ukherbal-list Sent: Friday, January 16, 2009 10:45:10 AM Subject: Re: Hypertension I had one patient on whom I tried every anti hypertensive and nervine and relaxing herb in the book - she was great and really worked on diet and took her herbs.
