Guest guest
Z, This is a great recipe...I've done the same, only with oatmeal " no-bake " cookies instead of the wheat germ. I'll be trying this over the weekend! Zettle wrote: Found this recipe in one of hubby's weight lifting mags and made it last night. It's for homemade protein bars. Are they ever GOOD!!!!! And easy to make. 1 cup honey 1 cup peanut butter (I used crunchy all-natural from Smuckers) 1 cup protein powder (I used chocolate) 3 cups raw wheat germ ( couldn't find that, so used toasted) I mixed the 2 dry ingredients well, then put in the honey and PB. Can't hardly use a spoon, almost have to use your hands. Press in a pan and refrigerate. I may try and spray a little Pam in the pan next time, they kinda stick to the bottom, had to use a fork to just kinda dig out what I want. They taste so good, it's hard to believe they're GOOD FOR YOU!!!! Z.

Guest guest
, One goog turn deserves another... Although your favor is a better treat than plain, raw wheat germ! Thanks again... Guest guest
Sounds good. Question for : Can these be stored unrefrigerated? Can they be cut with a knife to actually make " bars " ? I would like to make some bars to take to work with me, since my Builder's bars are running out. I teach school and like to keep them in the bottom drawer of my desk. Will these get too gooey? Also, I wonder about calling them protein bars since they seem to contain only about 21% of calories from protein. I entered the ingredients into fitday and (with my choice of Skippy natural peanut butter and Body Fortress chocolate whey powder) came up with 181g fat, 515g carb, and 244 g protein. I think I might tinker with the ratios. Bruce > Found this recipe in one of hubby's weight lifting mags and made it last night. It's for homemade protein bars. Are they ever GOOD!!!!!
