Guest guest
Hi Guys, I saw an 8 month old chocolate lab 4 months ago that had a history of lameness on the left forelimb for approximately 4 weeks. At the time that I saw him - lameness appeared to be consistent in the left elbow. He was sent for surgical evaluation and the first surgeon felt that his left elbow was also the main joint of concern and he was booked for CT. The day of CT, the second surgeon felt that he was more sore in his left shoulder. CT imaging - both shoulders showed OCD lesions and the left elbow was clean. He went for surgery at the end of July and both shoulders were scoped and fragments were removed. The left elbow was scoped and no lesions were noted at time of surgery. I saw the dog back this week (6 weeks post-op) and he is still significantly lame(grade 2)on the left forelimb. On evaluation - his shoulders both have normal ROM but he is still very sore in his left elbow. There is a signifcant amount of muscle atrophy on the left and a trigger point in his triceps as well. There is no crepitus or palpable effusion and he is fine with flexion but consistenly hesitant with the last 10 degrees of elbow extension. At this time - there are soft tissue changes consistent with misuse and altered gait but the primary pain appears to be with the joint. Any thoughts?
