Guest guest
Sounds hormonal to me, as anything that has a cycle may be. It is possible for some women to have some sort of cycle, even after oophorectomy, and even some time after the menopause. Hormonal tests, including oestrogen / progesterone and adrenal profile can help clarify the situation. How is her sleep, does she feel refreshed in the mornings? Hope this helps. Guest guest
Have her check the acidity of her urins and saliva on rising for a few days. Diabetics (and other degen. conditions) tend to have acidic urine/saliva which can account for frquency. Guest guest
Would this'd explain why she only gets it in two weekly cycles, if it was happening all the time it would make more sense to me but will get her to do a check. thanks puzzling cycle of symptoms >> -any clues/suggestions? >> >> >> > Saw lady (56) today with symptoms lasting 25 years >> that have a puzzling >> two weekly cycle and I would appreciate any thoughts >> or suggestions. >> > >> > Has one week of symptoms and one week feeling >> really well, nothing affects >> regularity of this pattern. >> > >> > At start of " bad " week is woken by terrible >> headache and urgent need to >> urinate, headaches improve gradually over 3 days, >> urgency remains a problem. >> Had pelvic floor exercises that have enabled her to >> avoid all but a few >> accidents, but has to urinate at every opportunity. >> Volume almost double >> that of good week no change in colour or smell >> noticed. Guest guest
Sounds like she is having an incredibly short hormonal cycle as many of these symptoms are related to progesterone (pelvic floor weakness, constipation, bleeding gums, etc.) hormonal changes also known to cause HAs, fatigue etc. Onset of Sx after pregnancy is also a big clue. Strange that cycle continues like this after removal of ovaries but I would still aim to treat hormone levels as they must be being generated by other hormone-producing tissues. Guest guest
Hi I have have several female patients who still have what I refer to as a shadow cycle even into their late 70s. Some of them have had their ovaries removed at some significant time in the past. Each can tell exactly when her ovulation and menstruation would have occured. I think that is what is happening here. The evidence, although circumstantial points to this and the symptoms could easily be hormonal. I would treat her as if it were hormonal and see if that makes a difference.
