Guest guest
Hello all does any one have any info re the use - good or bad of this drug. I have a new patient who had a mastectomy for an oestrogen positive tumour plus lymph node removal 3 weeks ago .Her conultant wants to put her on this ( an aromatase inhibitor ) but she doesnt really want to .she had her op done privately and was told that her chance of survival was 90% without further tretment and with treatment ( tamoxifen ) it would increaase another 4% . she had decided against any drug involvement as she was still angry at hospital mismanagent of her husband who died last year after contracting mrsa in hospital. however the nhs consultant has told her her chances of survival without drug treatment are about 50%. she is confused/ still shaky after the op/ still grieving her husband and is more concerned with quality of life than longevity. if anyone could give me some info about pros and cons of this drug so I can discuss them with her for her to make an informed decision I would be really grateful. sorry for length of this! thanks , annette
