CLL and green tea extracts

Hello everyone. I have a patient with CLL who's cell counts have stabilised

since starting a regime of green tea extracts, salvestrols, turmeric and black

pepper capsules, and lemon grass infusions. He asked me about the possibility of

adverse effects from long term high dose of green tea extracts. He's only mildly

inquisitive about this, not really concerned, as he's thrilled about the

levelling out of his previously exponentially increasing cell counts and doesn't

want to change his treatment at the moment. He takes 2 Lamberts 2750mg Green Tea

extract tablet (a 5.5:1 extract providing 250mg total catechins), one in the

morning and one at lunch. Then he takes a further 1000mg Green Tea extract

tablet in the evening (I don't have the full details of this extract as it's one

he found himself). From my reading of Boik's book and of Chanchal's 3 day

seminar which I attended a few years back - I think he's ok to be on this level,

at least for the time being.

He is a highly strung and slim individual. However, this was the same before he

started on the Green Tea - and I'd say that his anxiety levels have actually

decreased since his cell levels levelled out. He'd be even more relaxed if they

started falling. He does suffer from early morning waking, but this started

happening after his Dx and before he started taking the Green Tea.

I would really welcome any thoughts on this, or information about long term

effects of this level of Green Tea extract.

Thanks in advance.

Sue Salmon, Huddersfield.
