Guest guest
, It just struck me after I read your kind commendation of my little book, that when you think about it, ASPIRES has produced quite a number of writers. In some cases as per in mine, it was very much with the inspiration of the List that we got round to putting together our thoughts on paper. In other cases of course the books were written before the author’s participation in the List, or were composed totally independent of ASPIRES. Very fine books too, majority of which have been from the start among my favorites. But just think about it. immediately I call to mind Meyer, Edgar Schneider, Stanford, and Gisela Slater-. Cant recall, but didn’t our beloved Sondra produce one too? And who else is there? Was Maxine Aston ever an ASPIRES person? Did Tara write a book? Cant just recall. Then a whole load of our number have delivered lectures and talks or interviews on AS. A significant number of our lot too, have been engaged as Counsellors, Advocates and Support group organizers. When you think of it, it is a really fine record, that all current members should be aware of. For me, as I make plain in my book, the foundation of my own contribution lay in the comments and contributions that I offered to ASPIRES over my first 5 years of participation. So many fellow listers suggested that I should make some permanent record of my ideas, and so it happened. You have a quality List here, that just has to have made a big big contribution to the understanding and appreciation of Asperger’s Syndrome in the world. Congratulations, . Cheers, Ron Chris: U might be interested in reading Ron's book titled Confessions of an Unashamed Asperger. It is filled with insight and great stories.
