Guest guest
I have had a patient for 6-7 years and seen her through peri and menopausal years. It's now 3 years since she's had a period. She's 42. She still has, from time to time, debilitating flushes. She can do well for months at a time, and then will call because either she has a urinary infection, or the flushes are getting out of hand again. Sometimes, but not always both. She has lots of stresses in her life, and it normally coincides with this. Her mixes vary, but constants are normally rehmannia( sometimes plus glycirrhiza), cimicifuga, vitex, ziziphus, and usually another adaptogen - gotu kola seems to suit her quite well. (Varients are borago, dioscorea, salvia etc etc. She seems to need a change of herb every now and then.) I've tried putting in various nervines, as I'm sure this is the trigger, but can't find one that really does the trick. She drinks strong chamomile tea, has given up alcohol, limits coffee etc. I usually give her a 'waterworks' mix when that flares up Any ideas gratefully received. thanks Janet
