Guest guest
I got called into a meeting last Wednesday (the day before Thanksgiving, thank you very much) with Human Resources to tell me that my FMLA hours ran out two weeks ago and that they would be changing those hours back to sick, then vacation, which I do have to cover for my absences. Then my supervisors will " allow " (very rudely in my opinion) for me to use my remaining vacation for the year for any absences. Luckily I do have the time. Then it was brought up on a day that I called in and left a message on my supervisors voicemail that I wasn't going to be there that no one knew where I was because he wasn't there. That I should call his cell. That was never communicated, which I stated and I said, no problem. I would do that from now on. Then in the same way, it was brought up that I came in late one day because of a headache and left on time. I stated that I worked through lunch, as I had many times before with no issue, as had others. I was told that I couldn't do that. That I had to take a 30 minute lunch and use sick time if that is the case if I don't stay late. Then it was brought up that I missed completing a task because I was out sick. As soon as I got back in the office, I was proactive in getting it rescheduled. Then the icing on the cake, the HR representative brought up what my Doctors had on my FMLA papers, which stated that basically due to my headaches, etc I could be out 1-2 days per week. I said that is what could be. I am doing my best to not make that happen..I gave a brief overview of my treatment and that I am going to pain management and doing my best to be there when I can. I explained that I don't make the decision to stay home easily. I left that meeting feeling very scared for my job. I have worked for my company since 2001... I have only had any issues since I got sick in 2006. I guess my question for you guys is that has anyone successfully done anything via the American with Disabilities Act or anything like that to protect your job??- Becky Carlile Don't cry because it's over. Guest guest
HI  ADA states that they must make reasonable accomodations for someone whether it be hiring someone or an existing employee to do their job. Is there work that you can do from home? You could always request that......  Are they giving you anything in writing?     Subject: Work Question?ADA?
