wendy,

why dont you print out some extra brochures and give them to the bank the post

etc and also give them your name and number and if you mom goes there and is

unruly they can call you. also you can have cards printed up saying " i am

suffering from Lewy Body Dementia and cannot always control my actions and

words, please call my daughter wendy if i am in need of help.

maybe your mom would go with that, she can put some in her wallet, incase a

scene is made and should a police officer be called they will look at her id in

her wallet and hopefully will see that.

sorry i tend to think of worst case scenarios. hope some of these ideas work

hugs, sharon m

Hi All

Mom has been on Aricept for about three weeks now and I have seen a

change for the better. She hasn't been hanging up on me, less

agitation, more cooperation. I have also been practicing my patience

and empathy with her. It works wonders.

I had given my Mom some easy to read materials about LBD last week.

Yesterday I went to her house to help with some errands. She was

upset because she thought she had made phone calls all over the place

about her lost SS card even though she had found the card and knew it

wasn't lost. She couldn't remember who she had called or if she had

even made the calls. She was wondering if she had dreamed it all. It

was a good oportunity to talk about the reading materials I had given

her. We had a really good exchange. Mom, ever the queen of denial

regarding anything she might perceive as a negative about herself,

admitted there is a serious problem. She asked questions and was

truly receptive to the info I gave her. I felt like it was a huge

breakthrough. I feel relief even though I know things could change at

any moment.

I know she has actually gone around town making a scene in various

places, the PO, bank, police dept because of her confusion. Yesterday

I made her some signs that say: I promise that when I can't remember

and get confused or scared I will call . She will help me day or

night (phone #'s included) She liked this idea and we posted the

signs by her phone and on her desk etc.

She is starting to get it. She was humiliated by her behaviors and

confusion. I hope the signs help remind her to call me before she

starts going off on people. I told her a little knowledge is power

and that I was proud of her for being brave and reading the materials

I brought her. I assured her that we can work together to keep her

independent for as long as possible.

Two more applications on file to get her moved closer to me. Today

she is having a good day. All is well for now.

Thanks
