Whie I eat cxarbs in limited amounts, like half a potato with dinner, or 6 grams of toast with my morning eggs, I do try to limit my fat. I had a specific experience that when I reduced my fat intake, my insulin needs fell quickly, and on this regimen I lost weight and was able to control on diet only. What I found by metering was that starches sent my sugars higher and I stayed higher than with fruits. Yes grapes are high in sugar, but a few at a time don't seem to hurt. My most recent A1c was 6.0 I use a vanilla flavored yogurt with a liquid sweetener, yes it has somee sugar in the yogurt. It is largely to improve my intestinal flora and provide calcium, as I am not a milk user. My last blood test showed a bit too much calcium. I generally eat an orange midmorning, my sugar after an hour after the orange was 109. A whole large peach sent me to 144 and I was 2 hours to get to 109. I don't do that much. Now papaya, mango, pear, banana, some grapes. A salad for lunch. I am not changing weight. I probably do eat a diet high in carbs, percentage wise, my fasting sugar is customarily 95. Did she ever suffer from an infection during this time or suffer from any sit backs.Because of my own case I'm checking into the effects of chronic pain on the chemicals of the blood and brain.Stress is one known cause of diabetes,nothing more stressful on one's body then surgery and recovery. Also I know in my own case my hormones changed during all this.I guess thankful I had a lot of surgeries during this time,and now I'm going over all that blood work seeing what was changing,how much was changing,and in the order of the changes.Before breaking my wrist I had a very action life.Slowly my whole life change with this injury.To many people it seems to have suffered from either a virus,infection,or a trauma to ones body before diabetes.One thing I have learn from this nightmare with my fracture,I have learn to trust what my body is telling me.My body tells me something else is wrong,that my diabetes is the reaction to something else not right in my body.By the way I have been on more then off pain pills the last 30 months.I hate taking pain pills,but sometimes you have to do want you have to do. Guest guest Posted October 15, 2000 Report Share Posted October 15, 2000 I was on roxicet most of the time,and going over my blood work, its was After being on these for a length of time that my blood sugar started to go up.Going over blood test I'm able to watch as my blood sugar climbed.No one ever said a word to me.You might want to check over old blood test.If I find anything interesting on this line of research I will post here.If she can back date when she started to show signs of diabetes I would be interested.I have no weight problem,and no known family members have diabetes going back 5 generations from me, up to present is 8.I just find the fact the a lot of people had a trauma,infection, or virus just before diabetes a little strange.D.J. She's off on a " walk for diabetes " this morning but I'll have to ask her. Must be some type of trigger, of course she does have the gene. I know she gets an injection every 3 months for a uterine condition, but I don't know what that is either.. it's to reduce fibroids I think.
