Guest guest
Dear Friends: Greetings from sunny Florida. I need some advice. I recently had a sleep apnea test at Mayo Clinic in ville after a doctor saw that I was having difficulty breathing during a visit to him. He highly recommended the test and arranged for it. The results of the test indicated I had stopped breathing numerous times during the night and had sleep apnea, requiring breathing equipment. While at Mayo a sleeping oxygen mask was used on me. The doctor who read the results of my apnea test ordered an air face mask for me through a local company. One of the doctor's big concerns was that I breath through my mouth and not my nose. I can't remember ever breathing through my nose. With the equipment, I cannot breath through my nose as hard as I have tried. My nose had been checked and it has no obstruction, therefore no reason I can't breath through my nose. I'm on my second set of breathing equipment now and still am unable to get the right one for me. The first equipment caused sores all over my face and the second one that I have now goes through my nose and I just can't handle it. Breathing, I understand is controlled by one's brain. My brain has dementia. The old saying is that ' " you can't teach an old dog new tricks. " I don't feel that they are considering my dementia with the breathing machines offered so far. Any advice or suggestions how I can handle this and continue to breath without the air going through my nose and allowing me to breath through my mouth? Thank you for your consideration and suggestions. Chip Gerber
