Here we go again with this lottery thing. I'd thought she put this to

rest after weeks of insisting that she'd won the lottery. For weeks

she went on and on about winning and someone tampering with her mail.

Big scene at the PO, big scene at the police station, big scene with

the landlord about tampered mail and intruders. Then she started in

with someone drugged her and made her sign the winnings over and she

needs an attorney to get to the bottom of it. Then she took a break

for a few weeks. Today she started up again, madder than a wet hen.

It is incredible. She is talking like she completely with the program

but what she is saying is way out in left field. I took it as an

opportunity to practice my new found advice from all of you. She only

hung up on me once. Not bad! Usually she hangs up on me over and over

again and then leaves the phone off the hook. Maybe tomorrow she

won't remember how upset she was.

Many of you responded to my question in How to make a plan: Do you

tell your LO that they are sick with dementia. Yes, most of you

discuss it with your LO and approach it with an attitude of we are in

this together. Not working here so far. I have decided to give her

some printed material that we can go over together when she is having

a good day. I have found that this works with her. I have given her

printed drug info and other things before because she just can't

listen to/believe me when I give her information. Plus it is good if

she can refer to it later for a reminder. I have been reading every

article on the internet looking for the perfect one for her that is

not to complicated or confusing. Something that tells what is

happening in her brain and what the symptoms are. If anyone thinks

they have a great article that a LO could benefit from I would sure

appreciate finding it.

Thank you very much
