That's what my friend who is on Atkins does... have to say, I thought she

was crazy :-) Once, though, I was real hungry for pizza, so I sliced a Roma

tomato, sprinkled on basil and oregano, minced some fresh garlic, and baked

it in the oven, covered with mozzarella. It's probably like that, huh? :-)

I do the same thing! And most pizza places have a salad bar, so I load up

on salad!

Now, here's something I don't mind doing.... we go to a favorite homestyle

restaurant where my husband likes the tenderloins. He gets the fried ones,

and I get the grilled ones. I don't ask for them to leave the bun off, but

I don't mind not eating it. Just eat the tenderloin with a little mayo,

dill pickles, tomatoes, and onion. It's good...

LOL! I'd like to see the look on that person's face when he got it home :-)

Ah... I see. No cheese on my tenderloin :-) I really don't like hamburger

buns and ordinary bread much, but I have to stay away from Italian

restaurants as a whole -- other than my pizza place -- as the good Italian

bread is just too difficult for me to avoid. I grew up eating it... it's

comfort food. All in all, it's easier to eat at home. I just don't buy

anything that I can't eat :-)

I know what you mean... it is very hard. I love snack food!! I got rid of

my chips and even popcorn, although popcorn is not supposed to be so high on

the glycemic index. I replaced it with celery sticks with blue cheese

dressing, cauliflower with dill dressing, pieces of pepperoni, and sauteed

mushrooms as snacks. Some lunches I like are half salmon mixed with half

cottage cheese. It's good and filling... I do eat a little bread.... I'll

have an open face sandwich on pumpernickle bread, with sardines topping it.

If I want a BLT, that's a little harder, as I want two pieces of bread, so I

use the Pepperidge Farm very thin sliced bread. Sometimes, it breaks, but

it's good anyway. For dinner, lately, we have been omitting the potato or

rice and just having grilled meat and grilled veggies -- asparagus, red and

green peppers, and onions. Speaking of onions, I think they make a lovely

replacement for potatoes.... saute some in a little olive oil to go along

the side of a piece of chicken. Yum! Basically, I'm eating a lot of green

veggies -- no carrots, potatoes, or lima beans, etc. I do eat fruits at

least once a day... apples, strawberries, blackberries, etc. No bananas or

watermelon. Sigh.... I do eat cereal once in awhile.... Cheerios or

Special K, with half a cup of milk... no sugar. Hope this helps....

Me too, ... I love junk food, so I know what you mean. I miss chips

and dip, so I've substituted celery sticks with blue cheese dressing, and

I'm going to make up some dill dressing, to go with cauliflowerettes. I

also like kipper snacks, shrimp -- expensive, pepperoni slices, chunks of

cheese with sliced apple, and sliced apple with a little peanut butter --

natural, no sugar. Nuts are great! They're very low in carbs --

especially, almonds and macadamia nuts, but peanuts aren't bad. I love

strawberries and blackberries with cream when I want something sweet. I

don't like diet pop, but I don't mind the diet jello with real whipped cream

and almond slices... that's from Atkins.

Personally, I like club soda with a twist of lime... better than the lime

flavored club sodas even. I used to drink the flavored waters, but lately

I've been drinking the plain ones and putting the real lime in -- better, I

think. I do drink beer, but only the light, and of course, I have to limit

that, while the club soda I can drink as much as I want. However, the light

beer -- Light is supposedly 3 grams of carbs in an 8 oz. glass-- is

great with the pizza! :-) Even without the crust, I'm sure :-) Then, of

course, there's always iced tea, and I love that made with mint tea bags.
