Guest guest
there was a place here in vancouver that had a 'gym membership' of sorts for their various FIR contraptions, including a sauna. i did it a couple of times and it felt good, but i don't think i did it consistently enough for it to do much AND i hadn't gone gluten-free yet. now they're closed anyway, i didn't have any adverse effects from it. i am excited to hear you can built your own tho. thank you for the info! nicole > > Hello all, > > I was wondering if I could get some comments on far infrared (FIR) saunas. Guest guest
Thanks ! In case you're interested, here's Dr. Mercola's article:http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2002/08/14/sauna.aspx It sure sounds like something we all could benefit from! All comments welcome, Steph there was a place here in vancouver that had a 'gym membership' of sorts for their various FIR contraptions, including a sauna. i did it a couple of times and it felt good, but i don't think i did it consistently enough for it to do much AND i hadn't gone gluten-free yet. now they're closed anyway, i didn't have any adverse effects from it. i am excited to hear you can built your own tho. thank you for the info! nicole > > Hello all, > > I was wondering if I could get some comments on far infrared (FIR) saunas. Guest guest
these do sound interesting; tho i have never sought one out cuz i used to do 'regular' saunus when i was young (but already diagnosed hypot and hashis =and left hypot on RX treatment) i used to get heart palps and feel faint in the sauns (i kept trying form time to time cuz everyone raved about saunas --and i had already been told repeatedly by my doctors that " Everyone gets heart palps and feels faint from time to time " .. (great doctors who knew so much about hYPOT ;O ==i read another doctor recently who said Sweating was good another way to get toxins out but sweating with NO exercise was what most sick folks needed.. he suggested sitting in a hot room wrapped in blankets i wondered about using an Electric blanket; with extra blankets also? heat them up for an hour.. and the Unplug the Electric blanket? and sit down and wrap up in -say 4 or 5 blankets ?? a cheap sauna available at home ?? -Carol PS i don't often do not sweat At All = regardless of the weather etc.. i have read enough about the different hormones and biology and now know i have had chronically high vasopressin (an hypothalamus Stress hromoen that is our water balance hromoen) Conventional medical books have been documenting for decades that Vasopressin is too high in the Hypothyroid Population! makes sense hypot is VEry stressful so i for ME, its not good to get too hot for too long. > > > > > > Hello all, > > > > > > I was wondering if I could get some comments on far infrared (FIR) > > saunas. Guest guest
The gym I used to go to has a heated therapy pool. They also have a bunch of different types of saunas but I couldn't use them, gave me breathing issues. They also had a huge hot tub. The therapy pool is intended to work out in. I found that it helped a bunch when I was having major muscle spasm and painful joint problems. I could barely walk but I could work out for a half hour in the pool. It felt really good in winter too and they had a huge bank of south facing windows so there was lots of sun. I don't think the pool would do anything about the toxin problem but I have seen many people say they also have fibromyalgia or arthritic type issues along with being hypo and the heated therapy pool really helped with that when I was having major issues. Guest guest
thanks for the link. here's another set of instructions but you don't have to build anything, just find a room with the right requirements: http://www.xmission.com/~total/temple/Soapbox/Articles/brsauna.html it sounds promising but i'm not sure about having all that heat in a room that wasn't made for heat. anybody have insight into that? also, it sounds like the red heat lamp bulb that you can get from the hardware store is not far infrared, but middle or near so you won't get the same benefits. he just uses one for a light. my acupuncturist uses lamps with a mineral heating plate http://www.lhasaoms.com/infrared_heat_therapy-43-page.html. the story about why they are better is here http://www.healiohealth.com/tek9.asp?pg=products & specific=jocmlmd0 oh i just found this. i haven't used traditional wet or dry saunas much because i feel like i can't breathe. this sort of setup would be ideal: http://www.toolsforwellness.com/81056.html carbon vs. ceramic is discussed here: http://www.cwglive.com/lifestyle/infraredsauna/FarInfraredSauna.php nicole > > > > > > Hello all, > > > > > > I was wondering if I could get some comments on far infrared (FIR) > > saunas.
