Guest guest
Cydne, No my problem is just I am one of those computer MEGA DUMMIES and I got a really nice new, fast, computer and although it does so much more, I am having a hard time realizing what all it does. My old puter was so old but it only did a couple things so it wasn't as difficult because my options were so limited. Guest guest
Thank you Al, My Dr won't give me an inhaler--not sure why except I think it might make my bleeding issue worse (too much dilation?) but I will try again with the Mucinex and more water I guess. allang88@... wrote: Hello Sometimes I will use an expectorant as Mucinex or guaifenesin that will break loose the mucus which will sometimes makes me feel tight that the inhaler doesn't help. The asthma only complicates the problem for me for which I take Singulair to help with the tightness. Mucinex can be bought over the counter. Al AOL now offers free email to everyone. Who’s on first? you've lost me. I was on Leviquin for 10 days. That's gone now. In all reality I should be on the Leviquin for 14 days, but I'm out of refills. I see my dr on Wed and will get refills. In the meantime. I have some Azithro left. So, I'll start those today, and continue taking them for awhile. So what I gather you're saying is..you take your Azithro three continuous days and then skip days (every other day? )..for how long do you do this? 30 days? one week..two ? what? Guest guest
Yes it sure was quiet here lately..I have a question. Do any of you ever feel "tight" in the chest and like you're trying/wanting to cough to get something up but nothing comes? I agree w/the other responses on the list. Your chest is plugged up w/mucous. It needs to be loosened and then up and out..you'll feel so much relief..you'll be able to breathe and move better too. OTC Mucinex or Guafisen ( I think the Guafisen can be only gotten with a script)..water..I cant stress enough water..watch the caffeine in teas and coffee..this tends to dehydrate us..though I still drink mine every morning..I make sure I always have a glass of water with me contstantly. Also..chest percussion. Be it the vest or someone pounding on you..whatever..do it, it's important to loosen the plugs. And another thing I do which helps me..w/the plugs and heaviness and sometimes that burning or pain, I use Ibuprofen. It helps the inflammation..for those of you who are thin blood or bleeders check with your dr first..but for me, controlling the inflammation in my lungs helps. Guest guest
That's why you need to take antis as propylactics to prevent infection, not wait until you get an infection before you start to take them. Right..and why I cant go any amount of time in between without them..some can start adn stop periodically 21 days on 21 days off..I cant..cause they're always there..will this EVER go away?? Guest guest
well that's interesting..using the saline as a mouth rinse..do you gargle with it? I've found, esp in the mornings I need to rinse and gargle as soon as I'm able to walk, because I'm so phlemy when I first wake..thanks for that tip.. As far as the toothbrush goes I agree..and I just got a new one..cheap's the way to go since we need to dispose of them so often.. Everything we can do to prevent infection is a good thing..and I should start using separate towels too..thanks Sandie My Tears don't comprimise my Strength...They never have...AOL now offers free email to everyone. Guest guest
Sandie, forgive my not explaining this well enough .... when I'm on antibiotics I will take Levoquin, one per day for 14 days ... let's say I take my last Levoquin on Sunday ... the next day, Monday, I'll take my first Azrithromycin ... skip Tues., take one Wed., skip Thurs. and take the last dose on Fri. Then, if possible, I'll go 4-6 weeks without antibiotics and then begin the regime all over again. Previously my dr. had me taking Levoquin for 21 days, then I'd skip 21 days, and then take Clarithromycin for 21, skip 21 and begin Levoquin again. I became resistance to Clarith., so he switched to this protocol. Hope this helps. Sandie, I don't know the reasons you can't go longer between antibiotics ... who reallydoes??? I do know, as you do, that we can become immune (as I did) to certain antibiotics ... I have begun using a separate towel to dry my hands rather than use the one my husband uses ... I was advised to change to a new toothbrush every month because they become germ laden if used longer, especially for us ... I will often soak mine in peroxide in-between ... I buy the cheapest ones I can find 'cause they'll be thrown away anyway... I do the nasal rinses every day and have begun using warm salt water as a mouth rinse, especially after using my inhalers or nebulizer. For some reason, using the saline mouth rinse helps me cough up more phelgm more easily. Hope this helps, Louise My Tears don't comprimise my Strength...They never have... Guest guest
Hi , I've found that when I become resistant to a medication, it no longer works to clear infection ... that happened to me earlier this year when I was taking Clarithromycin...took it for nearly 10 days and nothing was happening other than I was getting worse. Guest guest
yes, I gargle with the warm salt water also ... I was amazed at how much it helps ...another thing I do when I go grocery shopping is to use those hand cleaner towelettes to wipe down the handle of anything I'll be touching ... I keep those & liquid hand cleaner in my purse ... as soon as I get into the car I then clean my hands, once home I wash them really, really well with soap & water. Guest guest
Thanks!! I have been on this same med for about a year so, I was just wondering. Once I had to add Augmentin to clear up an infection. So, I guess that is pretty good. Guest guest
- I have the same tightness that you describe and lots of non productive coughing and wheeziing. When I finally hang my head over the side of the bed and try to cough then a big hunk of sputum comes up and the tightness is relieved. That's what I call a plug. I have been off antibiotics for two months but with the coming of warm weather here in Missouri I am coughing much more. Must be the pollen. Tolly. Guest guest
Thank you everyone! All of these are easy common sense ideas that I would never think of on my own. It may be a coincidence but when I was away for a few weeks--the ocean there was very salty and after swimming I had no trouble loosening up my chest. Not able to live in the Carribean all year tho but could do the mouth rinse. Clyde wrote: Re: test In a message dated 3/26/2007 10:09:28 A.M.
