Hi, Armour has t3 and t4.

So its done in a ratio ......

Did anyone do blood work?

Did they check the T3 and T4?

its called T3free, and T4free, (the tests cost.) its how the t3 and t4 are in

your body.

been left with out help from my endo or doc-as usual!I also have hypothyroidism

which was diagnosed in 2005, FMS which was diagnosed in 2007, CFS diagnosed in

2010 and IBS which started the entire Fibro diagnoses. I'm limited in my doctor

choice. Mu husband is awaiting disability along with me. We have three teen

daughters so-we are pretty strapped financially. I was put on Synthroid 100 MCG

and Cytomel 5 MCG twice a day.It has done nothing. I've continued to gain

weight-the endo tells me he doesn't know what the problem is????He checked my

adrenals twice. I am on an adrenal supplement. I just feel terrible almost

everyday and want my quality of life back. I want to try Armour. My endo will

have nothing to do with it.But I feel so anxious all the time and just ache. I'm

also on several supplements.I've done nothing but research all of these

" syndromes " and disease's. So, I found a way to get Armour. I just need to know

how to measure it out-I know 1 grain =60mcg.But how do I make up for the Cytomel

or do you not add that to it?Before I finally got him to add cytomel I was on

138 mcg of levothyroxine-I got him toput me on the brand name as well.I just

need some help please. Thank You all:)

Yes...I've had my bloodwork done. My TSH is normal now-but I still have

symptoms-like everyonr does it seems. The endo put me on T3 for my foggy

thinking and T4 didn't cover it.I wanted to be on both. I heard they together do

a really great job. Even though they are bad for you.Thank You!:)

Hi ,

IT would be helpful to know where your thyroid function is at currently. Do you

have recent FreeT3 and FreeT4 tests?

To answer your question 100 mcgs of T4 is equivalent to 60 mgs of NDT as well as

25 mcgs of straight T3 (Cytomel).

Going from 100 mcgs of T4 and 10 mcgs of T3 one would normally start at 90 mcgs

of NDT or 1.5 grains. You will be going from overall 140 mcgs of T4 to 111 mcgs

of T4 (note this includes T3 as well).

Breaking that down - you will be going from 100 mcgs of T4 to new dose of 57

mcgs of T4 in the NDT (less T4 is needed when T3 is added); and you will be

going from 10 mcgs of T3 to 13.5 mcgs of T3 in NDT.

Each grain of NDT has 38 mcgs of T4 and 9 mcgs of T3 in the USA. In Canada each

grain (65 mgs) has 35 mcgs of T4 and 8 mcgs of T3. There may be variances in

other countries as well.

NOTE: when measuring NDT mgs, this number can vary but grains are always the

same. All Rx's should be written in Grains.

Very vital, you need to stay at this dose, (1.5 grains or 90 mgs of NDT) for at

least six weeks to 40 days before testing and changing dose if appropriate. It

takes 36 to 40 days for a doseage to stabilize in the body.

This calculation is based on the facts that T3 is four times as potent as T4, T4

half-life is 6.5 days and T3 half-life is 2.5 days. Also, you will be going

from taking 9% T3/91% T4 to taking 19% T3/81% T4.

Your Endo had you on the T3/T4 ratio amount that a healthy thyroid makes. Some

of us need more T3 and some of us not so much. Please be cautious as you may

not be able to handle that high T3/T4 ratio. If you cannot, at least, you know

your T4 to T3 conversion is better than a lot of us and still working at some

level. If this happens, consider lowering the NDT and adding T4.

In addition, have you read up on gluten and how critical it is to eliminate

gluten and soy from the diet to regain our health? Look into malnutrition; low

vitamins and minerals, especially iron, vitamins D, B complex, B-12, C and E. I

still take a multi-mineral and extra magnesium daily. The minerals are

essential for health improvement. Good levels of all these are necessary.

Also, adrenal fatigue is often an issue from us with low thyroid function.

Hope this is helpful,

~Bj

Just a bit concerned. You might have simply mis-typed. But 1 grain is not 60

micrograms - but 60 milligrams. A thousand times as much. But that is the

measurement of the desiccated thyroid - not the actual thyroid hormones.

I do not have personal experience so would not wish to advise.

Wow-great info!Thank You so much.:)This is what I was looking for. I don't know

if I should just stay on the synthetic thyroids or go NTH?I know the synthetic

ones have terrible side effets the longer you take them. It's all just confusing

at times especially when you have the many conditions as I have. I don't know

what is causing what.I'm on several supplements and have started the GF diet-I'm

a vegetarian so this is fine by me.The doctors don't tell you much and leave you

in the dark searching for answers. The endo tested my adrenals and says they are

fine-but I still have symptoms of adrenal fatigue.I'm just looking for answers.

Your advice has helped. Now I jus have to think about if I want to change or

not.Thank You again!
