Guest guest
Millie just came into my room to tell me there is a whole bunch of stuff in her bedroom that has never been there before. She wanted to show me checkbook registers from 1985 to ask me why she doesn't remember any of these things being there. Her dentures fell out of her mouth while she was showing me, and then we had to decide where she should put them, and what about the people who steal gold, and would they find her dentures in the bathroom? So, after three hours of sleep, I am up keeping all those people away from her dentures. I am betting the dentures will be gone sometime during the night because she will hide them once I go back to bed. I have been very lucky we haven't had middle of the night crises before and I am hoping this is not a sign of things to come. I have gotten pretty good at playing along, but I am not so sure I wil be good with it when I have to work the next morning. it's a good thing it is Saturday night! I can be extremely grumpy when i am sleep deprived. Three hours of sleep has taken the edge off so I will be awake some time yet tonight. I know you'll all have horrendous middle of the night stories and I will feel silly for mentioning tonight after you share. So, give me your best middle of the night stories so I can look forward to some new loops in the coaster. Nightey night! Carol
Guest guest
First thing I thought of was that helping her " hide " the teeth may have been helpful to you getting more sleep. And you wouldn't have to look for her teeth the next morning. LOL Hugs, Donna R Caregave for Mom (after I brought her from WI to MI) for 3 years and 4th year in a nh. She was almost 89 when she died in '02. No dx other than mine. Well, I am awake! Guest guest
Carol, so far my middle of the night hasn't been with LBD, but with my darling's heart. I even have a portable doorbell right by my head so that if he rings, I can run to him. This has been ongoing since 1980 when he had his first open heart surgery. Yes, he has had a second open heart, and three stents since then. He continues to have chest pain, that will be so severe, that medication wouldn't ease, and I would crawl in bed with him to comfort him. Sometimes I've had to drag my clothes on and drive him to the hospital. Several times he would say it was better, and would have me turn around. (We lived in the country then) Other times it was the real thing. One time I had taken Benedryl (sp), because I have allergies. The pills had just done their work, and I was so blurry eyed that I had to drive slow, and fought that truck to keep it on the road, and fought with desperation to keep my head clear and stay awake. I never did that again. Now, I am 75 and have trouble sleeping myself, on top of him. We were both up at midnight last night, and I was up every hour on the hour. I am up again at 5:30A.M. Exhaustion is my middle name. It all started when I was a girl and fished with the tides, with my father, and sisters. They would pile up in a bunk and I would sit up going from one fishing spot to another. Watching the sun rise on the water was beautiful. I am not one to sleep during the day. Then I married and had six babies in six and one half years. Sleep what is that? I asked myself many times. After they were grown I thought that was the end of it. Not so. Now since 1980 it has been with my husband and now with me too. Once in a while I will be so exhausted that I will have to sleep and will do so for ten hours. Well, with getting up a few times for going to the bathroom. Here I sit after two cups of coffee and blurred eyes. I am sorry about your sleep. I have been there and done that, and understand with all my heart. It's horrible!
