Guest guest
After reading your letters regarding pain and/or numbness in one or both legs....I have a theory. Because of the burning/discomfort in the vulva area, I know that often I walk " funny " , trying to walk in such a way as to minimize the pain, and I too sometimes experience pain/tingling in my leg or legs. This would be sort of like favoring a sore foot and then the other foot starts hurting. Might be just a dumb thought, but hey, after reading everyone's stories, I feel a lot of smarter than many of these doctors! But I have a question...does anyone ever experience numbness in the vulva area? Looking back, I realize that this may have been one of my very first symptoms. Have a great evening, everyone. Kathy G. Guest guest
Has anyone experienced a back leg muscle constricting at all? I have had some extremely painful ones, they just come on & it is excruciating when it happens. I am taking more muscle relaxants now. I was taking 1 a day for a long time, now I take 3, one being before bed. The first time this happened it was like 2:00am & got me out of bed fast. Also the tendons between my toes will pull the toes apart & this is painful too, not as bad as the leg muscles constricting. My leg gets so very sore the next day as well because of it. Thanks, Marie
Guest guest
Marie Yes, I have experienced the same pains. The muscle relaxants were not as helpful as just taking a Potassium supplement. However, you might ask the doctor how much you should take and how often. Also, bananas have a lot of potassium in them, but I have a problem with eating too many bananas. That muscle in back of the leg is horrible when it spasms, as well as the feet and toes. Guest guest
Marie: I've had those cramps and they really hurt. Here are some things I've done that seem to help me a lot. 1. Stetch the legs, and the whole body if I'm up to it, before bed. I use long, slow holds--30 to 45 seconds. 2. Accupressure. I lay on my side and find my sits bone--the bottom of the pelvic bone?--if I rub hard in that area I always find a really tight rope--the tendon--and put pressure on it for as long as I can stand it. I do the same thing to the tendons at the back of the knees. 3. Increase water intake during the day. My muscles tend to cramp if I get dehydrated. 4. If all else fails, I take a potassium supplement. I checked with the doc since too much potassium is dangerous. I use this more in the hot weather, when I've been sweating and overheated and haven't had enough water. f you need more info on accupressure, let me know. Also, there are some good books on the subject which can probably be found at abebooks.com at a really reasonable price. Hope this helps.
