Hi Everyone! I thought I would take a moment to introduce myself. I am new to

the board, as well as newly diganosed. I have been going through various testing

for the last 2 months. About 18 months ago I had a blood test that came back

saying my thyroid levels were low. The nurse pract. I was seeing ended up being

a bit flakey. She was supposed to be really good with hormone stuff, in the end

4 of my friends went to her and she treated us ALL the same which was my first

clue. Anyway I was doing good on the low dose of armour she gave me then I

wasn't. So I stopped it about a year ago. I since have found a new GP, and upon

my first visit for PCOS he mentioned that I had a goiter. I had never been told

I did before. He tested my blood which came back normal, then sent me for a US,

and it came back enlarged with a nodule on the right side. I went for a Uptake

Scan, which came back saying my thyroid was enlarged and abnormal looking but

the iodine showed my thyroid was working normally and the nodule was

indetermanite. I went for a biopsy earlier this week, and during the biopsy the

radiologist identified a second nodule. The biopsy is back and said that I have

hashimotos disease. I go back Tuesday to talk to my GP about treatment options.

I have NO CLUE what questions to ask or anything... is a GP fine to treat this

or should I ask for a referrel to a specific type of specialist if he doesn't

offer to refer me?? What do I need to know?? Anyone wanna give me a crash

course??

I have had bouts of extreme fatigue for over 5 years now, like I can sleep 18

hours a day for days on end and still feel tired. I had been drinking lots of

caffine to stay awake because I have 3 kids, one of whom is autistic. I have cut

out caffine for almost a month now. Honestly it wasn't really helping anymore

anyway... Then every now and then I will be fine energy-wise then crash again...

it's frustrating. I have known something was off and causing this but am also

overweight so the doctors I've seen always blame it on this... ANYWAY....

That's my story for now... :0)
