Barb,

When I was pregnant with my first daughter I could not drink out of any

glass container. I have never heard of anyone else having this problem. My

very sweet understanding husband never said one word about my crazy

aversion. Even when we went to people's houses, and I would try to drink

out of a glass and quietly gag, he would just try to find me a plastic

container to drink out of. I thought it was all pregnancy related, except

that I still can not drink out of a glass. Maybe I should send you all my

glasses, and you could send me all your plastic stuff (just kidding).

I also had a weird smell thing that luckily is not with me still. I threw

away our comforter because it smelled musty even after I washed it. Then I

went and bought a new one, which also smelled musty. I returned that,

bought a new one, and when it still smelled musty to me, it occurred to me

that it was possibly me that had the problem.

I can't eat cookies that have been stored in Tupperware, which is

unfortunate because my mom buys me Tupperware like crazy, and I can't really

use any of it for food that I want to be able to eat.

Wow, I can't believe you have the aversion to plastic too. I am sorry for

you because I know how frustrating that can be! I am also sorry because I

thought it was a weirdness unique to me, and now I guess it must be a MS

thing.

You sound very similar to me in dismissing all your symptoms as nothing.

The first time my doctor asked me about things I said I never had any of

them too. Then when I repeated to my husband what I told the doctor, he

looked at me like I was crazy and reminded me of all the things I had

casually mentioned to him.

Anyway, good luck, and if you ever want to talk, feel free to write me. I

have 4 kids, my youngest is only 7 months so I don't get to check the

computer every day, but I try to write back to people the best that I can.

Take care!

Tori

Barb:

Is there anything else going on besides MS stuff? OCD? Sometimes an aversion like that is OCD caused in my own experience.

What kinds of meds are you on?

For those who have such problems that are made worse by thinking about them

(such as the swallowing), why not try visualization.

What I mean by that is that when you are swallowing and you feel you might

have trouble, focus your mind on something else. Sometimes my injections

his a vein (I'm diabetic) and that hurts like a b**ch and I've found that

by focusing on something such as when I used to play in the snow as a child

gets my mind off the issue and the pain disapears.

Since epidurals are practically never used where I now live, I plan on

doing the same thing during childbirth. It takes a lot of practice at first

but once you are able to do it, I find that it's a big help with pain or

any " mental blocks " .

Hi Barb,

My name is Patti and I am in that boat, the limbo boat. I don't read these posts often because now that I feel well I prefer to row my boat on the river of

de-nial. I have had every symptom and every risk factor. Lots of stuff has been ruled out. But I feel fine so I'd rather not think about it.

Patti

The neurologist called to say that from what he can see on the electronic copy of my MRI he got today, there appear to be no lesions. However, he wants to wait until Tuesday when he gets the original and the neuro-radiology report before we continue. He believes since I have been having quite a number of MS symptoms and nearly everything else has been ruled out at this point, it is likely I am in the process of getting MS. This whole thing is very confusing. If the actual MRI shows nothing, I will be off for a spinal tap and spinal CAT scan.

I have heard many people have gone through this process for months and years until lesions finally form. Anyone else start off in this same boat? My symptoms are numbness in legs, mostly from the knees down, feet almost always, numbness in my arms, primarily right arm and hand, tingling also in right leg, numbness on the right side of my face. Extreme fatigue, hot tempurature intolerance and I have recently started having some sort-term memory loss. I am 41 years old.\

Thanks!

Barb
