Guest guest
Hi Everyone Hugs to all ! Mom is still in the hospital. She is in the Cardiac ward in Barrie. We are visiting Mom everyday. Makes for long days of driving and worry ! Currently they have taken two rounds of blood from mom. They have found that she has a blood infection. Thursday they took more blood to see where the infection stemed from. They are calling this a Staph Infection. My guess is that it stemmed from the UTI. She is on an IV drip - Dextrose and a form of Pennicillan being fed into the IV. Her blood pressure is still low. She has moments were she is still very sleepy, coming in and out of sleep for moments at a time. The Dr that is looking after her has given Mom from now till Christmas. She has been bed bound since last Tuesday, unable to walk, we are assiting her with eating and drinking. She has been taken off her BP meds but is still taking the Seroquel ! We have heard that she WILL NOT be leaving the hospital. They have talked to us all in regards to DNR. They are going to keep her their until a Nursing Home becomes available. We do not want that for Mom, so I am currently looking into..when they finally release her that she comes to live with me in Port Hope. I have looked into the CCAC workers, hospital beds, commodes ..everything i can think of to make Mom's time as comfortable as possible. We have assistance for everything which im so happy about. Maureen did an awesome job looking after Mom, but we feel it might have been alittle to stressful with her little boy, stairs, and the fact that Mom and Dad were living in the basement appt. Safety wise we all feel it would be better if Mom came here were all her needs will be on the main level and more accessible to stretchers, etc should we need that. I also have a 21 year old and a 19 year old and between the five of us..Dad, hubby, myself and kids we can all assist and relieve each other during the day and night when need be. So as it stands right now, Mom is doing much better. Dad walked in her room yesterday and saw her trying to eat by herself. We have a little light of hope that she is on the mend, but will never fully recover, we will keep you all posted. My blessings and best wishes to all and your LO's. I apologize our postings have been far and few between. This has been a very emotional week ! Love Carole Maureen & Family
