Guest guest
My daughter, age 5 & diagnosed in July with Chiari 1, has been complaining lately or her belly hurting. A few days ago I happened to be thinking about the times she's missed school over the past month or so because of this bellyache. And I realized that she begs me to stay home because her belly does hurt, but after a little while she's ok, and then after a little while she's not again. It cycles this way. So, the other day I realized she might actually be nauseous. This is something I have been thinking about for days now, especially since she has a follow-up with the NS on 1/12. Today, thankfully not yesterday, she's been in and out of bed due to her belly hurting. There's nothing else wrong with her...no sore throat, no fever, no cough, etc. She just says her belly hurts. Of course, she does mention her head hurting too. Anyway, does this sound like what I think it sounds like? Is this something I should bring up to the NS in 2 weeks when we go? I think it is, but I wanted to get another opinion, just to be sure I'm not blowing this out of proportion. I waited a long time before having her checked for Chiari, just because she was so young and there's a lot of headache talk in the house (thought she was just parroting us until we made sure not to talk about them and she kept saying it, and added feet/hands sleeping to it). I finally had her checked. The NS said to see her back in 6 months, which it will be in January. He said we'd go over whether her symptoms were progressing, etc and repeat scans if needed. I'm beginning to think we should definitely have them repeated? Am I going insane and flying off the handle? Thanks, Niccy (mom of 5 y/o Mackie...both with Chiari 1, neither decompressed)
