Hadn't even seen the ocean until 2004 when I flew into an island surrounded by ocean. It is beautiful, awe inspiring. I must say though, I would miss the seasons. I am so used to all the seasons, cold and snow included that I do think I would be a bit lost without it all. I looked at the photo's before replying. Oh what a handsome family you have So many beautiful smiles. Their hearts shine through their smiles. I have looked through your photo's before but must have missed the one of your children when they were young. I am so glad you mentioned it and I was able to have a peek. I love hearing your stories of " back in the day " . So much adventure, so many memories, and very fascinating. Nothing like I have been around before ...commercial fishing...love hearing of those times. I have enjoyed hearing from you Imogene. Thank you. Thank you for taking time to write and for sharing such special memories with me. To give a hug we get a hug...right back at ya- Sandie -- Re: Imogene OT And hugs to you, too, darling, Sandie. You can keep the weather up there. If you are born and raised in it, then it becomes a way of life, but I wasn't. I was raised on snow white beaches In Florida, and living in a bathing suit a great deal of time, also the most fun I ever had in my life was the experiences I had while commercial fishing with nets with my father and sisters for six years. Warm was what I knew, and expected. When we ever had a cool snap, I nearly froze to death. In Ohio it was horrible. Just below Lake Erie, was mess, cold, icy, while I hauled water from a spring (yes, like in the pioneer days) Had an out house and cooked on a three burner kerosene stove, while having six babies in six years. I hung diapers until my hands were nearly frozen. Those were the horror years. I could write a book about it, but this is as far as I will go. So no, I don't care for the cold. I loved my babies. Look at their picture in the album and you will see why. With the sixth baby, I moved into a small apt, over my husband's Speedometer shop, and that is why there was wall paper. He got tired of wading through clothes strung up and down the hall, and bought me a washer and dryer. I think he saw for himself how hard it was for me, and I wasn't outside in the cold there. I took excellent care of my babies, and kept a spotless house. I was thin. I have always loved life to the fullest, and I did enjoy much about the North, but sure can't live there. Had our share of storms last week...rain followed by sleet followed by ice followed by snow and more sleet. Whoa!! It will be 58 here again...come April or May.
