adrenal/endo M.D. recommendations in Bay Area

Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone has any recommendations for an endo who

would be able to 'get' the adrenal connection. I read through your

posts and my symptoms are so much more mild than anyones. Although I

did spaz out a few weeks ago from the pharmacy's accidental

overdosing me with Testosterone which sent my newly recovering

adrenals into an acute stage of adrenal exhaustion (not sleeping,

heart palps, tired but wired). Anyway, my NP and doctor had me stop

everything for a few weeks (to detox and start fresh/again using

symptoms and testing)...but the main thing that i'm still trying to

get right is the adrenal connection.

I'm no longer " tired but wired " as i was in April before doing " any "

type of hormone intervention (hormone)...when going on the WP, right

away i slept with huge doses of E, but as you know, i had a bad

reaction to the P, so I went off of it and found a doctor who'd dose

my E to what i needed and suggested T since my T was in the toilet

anyway.

Ok, so since the T overdose and detox, i'm sleeping " ok " . By this, i

mean, the doctor had given me Klonopin (1MG) to help me sleep, but i

actually take only .5MG and ONLY on nights of days that i exercised.

so this is why i'm suspecting hte adrenal connection. if i don't

exercise, i get to sleep ok. If I do exercise, bam, I have trouble

falling asleep. Since i'm still detoxing the T and E overdoses, i'm

not taking anything to adress the sleep other than klonopin, which

both my doctor and I agree is only short term until i detox.

So the thing is, i think i need a wee bit of Isocort or cortef or

something to support my adrenals on days that i exercise. and by

exercise, all I do right now is Power Vinyasa yoga--which gets the

Heart rate up, but not like i used to exercise where I'd put about 10-

12 hours/week on the bike and 3 hours week on the yoga mat. so you

can understand my exercise level is greatly reduced and STILL i have

a reaction to getting to sleep whenever i exercise in any capacity.

One thing i found helped, thanks to Kathy, was the Cal-Mag

connection. I ordered calcium citrate and magnesium citrate

separately (according to you shouldn't taking them together

and mag will help calm a heart palp). and so far, this has helped A

LOT! I mean, A LOT! i take the Cal in the a.m. and mag a night. I

also dose 'electrolytes' before and after yoga (small doses of 10-

25mg of cal, mag, pot and sodium.) in the a.m. I take 1/4 tsp of sea

salt (i actually have a capsule machine that i used to get my dog to

take her yucky tasting herbs. so now i use it to put the sea salt

into veggie capsules so i can take it with water.

a lot of the electrolyte stuff has helped get me out of the " acute "

stage of adrenal fatigue, but i really want to go back to

training/exercising again, and intellectually, i believe i will need

cortisol support (Isocort or Cortef), but there's no way in heck i

want to do this w/o tests and w/o a doctor's help as I know getting

it right is crucial. I'm guessing i'll need it to help me sustain

exercise w/o pushing myself into some acute stage of adrenal fatigue

(like heart palp, insomnia)....

so long story for simple quesiton: anyone have an MD referal in the

bay area for this?
