Guest guest
Hi , Tammy My name is Jill. I too have had FM and perhaps CFS since childhood; with insomnia, difficulty getting and remaining asleep, pains in places that I hadn't done anything to. I'm 63 now. Undiagnosed except for when a doctor told me I had myagia rheumatica after the birth of my second child. I had a flare with the accomanying fog and cognitive problems again this spring and am now at home. This caused a loss of my job and I had to leave school. I seem to feel better away from flourescent lights and being able to sleep when I am tired. My goal is to get myself on the correct schedule for the supplements and meds that help. Right now I am struggling with not wanting to eat and that does exacerbate the problems since I then remain in a state of malnourishment. I have found I do feel better now that I am off of gluten-containing products. It will take around 6 months for my intestines to heal and then I will see what I can do next. Resource books I have found useful is The Fibromyalgia Advocate written by Devin J Starlanyl, MD ( who has the disorder) and Fatigued to Fantastic by Teitelbaum, MD. I read and checked what symptoms I had against what was told in the books and made a list. Many good wishes for you. Then I started to get migraines since 19, also was very depressed, that is when I started on anit-depressants,Which at that time they were just learning about depression, Nothing about FM, =About 20 years later I was diagnosed with FM. Some people have been healed from FM, but other times it just goes on, like me.I feel for you pain, Knowledge is the best medicine, They also have a feew med out there that may work for you. It is different for everyone, but the symptons can be the same. I started researching FM 20 years ago. I have more symptoms than I did then. The ME/CFS is what gets me the most,I am tired all the time, my low back and legs hurt all the time. I also have other illness that I am getting treated for such as restless leg syndrome. It used to drive me crazy, the DR. perscribed Carbandoba and it works great.. > > I hope this is helpfull to you in some way. I'm 48 and I used to think that I only had this for x number of years. That was until family members started remembering that as a young girl I had horrid problems with wanting to sleep in, which of course got me into trouble; but I did begin to remember and so there is a chance that I've had the chronic fatigue since a young girl. > > > > Regardless, this illness is one that changes over time and based on whatever is going on in your life and the weather. For example, if your stress is high, if you don't originally have the chronic fatigue part of the illness, continuing high stress brings on that aspect of it and you might end up with both FM and ME/CFS. The reason that those of us who've been dealing with this illness for a length of time use the ME/CFS like this has to do with deep medical wording ME-Myalgic Encephalomyelitis and the more commonly known name of CFS-Chronic Fatigue Syndrome; the latter which most people hate and which there was a huge internet vote on last year, but stayed. > > > > I've probably already given you too much information. What I really want to say is to love yourself just the way you are. Try to ignore anyone who is being stupid or uneducated about this. Tho if it is a family member or friend etc. I just finished creating a spot on the Yahoo Groups site for people like this so that we with the illness can in a kind way educate them, so that they can understand us better at Yahoo Groups " sofafamily " . > > > > Welcome to understanding people on this Group site. > > > > > > > > > > Hi my name is Tammy I am 37yrs old and have been ill for 6yrs. Guest guest
Well Tammy, We are here for you & others as well. I have had Fibro since I was small I think & I am 51 now. I take a lot of different meds. My thyroid is enlarged & doesn't work at all. Now I am on the real Armour thyroid a lot of my symptoms have gone away. I now have clear thinking, which I didn't have before. Starting to loose weight again as well. I think I am around 190 now. I was up to 201 a few months ago. I am trying to keep working out to . The excersize is gentle, but vigirious. He does a total workout. I just do a little each day & build up to it. I am also hoping to get a place with a swimming pool to help with the excersize as well. Take Care, Marie > > Hi my name is Tammy I am 37yrs old and have been ill for 6yrs. I am so tired of doctors, meds and surgery. No one understands what FM is like and all the other problems I have.
