Guest guest
Betsy, I have not heard of the overcompensating of the other glands. I can tell you that it has reduced Aubrey's secretions, she NEVER drools anymore out of her mouth, and she does not appear to have " cotton mouth " . I don't see any overcompensating of the other glands causing her to still have lots of secretions. It has been around 3 months since her surgery. I have never noticed the bulging gland thing - I'm not sure how you tell? We did use robinul for several months with Aubrey. It helped sometimes, but not always. It was just not effective over the long haul for us. We went to Cincinnati because the doctors at the Children's Hospital in Kansas City, where we live, had no idea what to do. In addition, they totally missed all kinds of stuff and contributed to her getting worse. I had heard about Dr. Cotton in Cincinnati from people on this email list and the tracheostomy email list I was on. He is considered one of the best when it comes to airway issues. I don't know if he is the " guru of the glands " . In fact, the otolaryngology team there were all involved in the decision about the glands and they seemed pretty knowledgable and experienced. Good luck with the ENT visit. Bradley
