Guest guest
Yes, I think it is very important to be evaluated medically. Not only can I not see a specialist, I can't see any doctor. If I had insurance, I could have saved the government thousands of dollars. I had a condition that I didn't see a doctor about because I could not afford to see one. That condition, untreated, escalated and landed me in the hospital twice, at a huge cost. While there, I qualified for "medically necessary assistance" so my bills were paid. Had I been able to see a doctor beforehand, I would not have had to be hospitalized and the government would have saved a lot of money. How crazy is that???? Don't mean to vent, but I just did. And this is supposedly the greatest nation in the world? Helena Re: Basic ACT for health problems Hi Bruce, For what it's worth - maybe you have a sugar imbalance? I went to a nutritionist that sorted that problem - maybe some advice might be worthwhile? I believe that diet plays a big part in how we feel emotionally sometimes. Best Wishes Simone As you know, I'm very very new to ACT.I'd like to see how it applies to chronic health problems. As examples, take - waking up and feeling absolutely tremendously exhausted- feeling really hungry - maybe like you'd feel if it was dinnertime and you haven't eaten anything all day. I'm hungry 24/7.Because the fatigue/exhaustion one is so very physical, it's harder to let go of changes in thoughts ....... said this about applying ACT to her health problems .......... As for my physical symptoms and acceptance- I am trying to accept the physical feelings of anxiety- sick stomache, aching chest, dry mouth, wet palms, heart racing, and a slight stutter and mumbling. I don't think that acceptance of these feelings alone will lead to a valued life but if used with taking action to live by my values I think this will work to live a full and meaningful life. Or am I wrong here?Does this mean you have to have worked out values to be able to use ACT more fully? Can someone tell me how ACT could be used for my 2 health issues above? I'm at a loss of where to start .......Thanksiolanda-- Smile – it increases your face value!!! ;-)
Guest guest
Yes that is a shame It also surprises me that such a rich country which talks so much about human rights should deny medical care to those who can't pay for it. Guest guest
Who pays for it? It's not free. Provide medical care and someone pays for it. Is it human rights to force someone to pay for someone else's medical care? It doesn't make sense to me to say we have a right to medical care because it has to be provided by someone and you can certainly make a case that the tax payer the tax money comes from has rights to choose how to spend her money. Also, from a pragmatic stand point, government controlled and ran health care has it's problems and pitfalls. Yes that is a shame It also surprises me that such a rich country which talks so much about human rights should deny medical care to those who can't pay for it. Guest guest
Of course its not free, its paid with tax. I personally wish that tax could be paid so that no-one in the world went without medical care, and that all basic necessities would be covered. Quite an utopia but there you go, thats me. My husband and I pay monthly into a charity where doctors travel all over the world giving medical care to impoverished countries. I have another way of looking at human rights. We have to agree to disagree, I'll leave it now as it quite off topic and I don't want it to escalate into anything else.XXX______________________Signature: Mrs Em Equanimity This is my personal blog where I record my experience applying Acceptance Commitment Therapy to my anxiety and agoraphobia in particular, and my life in general. Guest guest
This is not a politial forum, and I'm sorry if I made anyone think so. It's a hot topic and all I wanted to do was share my story. Who pays for it? It's not free. Provide medical care and someone pays for it. Guest guest
We have different views and I just want to point that out. Charities that provide medical care are great. That's my " abstract " for this email. And yes, I agree - it's off topic. I don't feel all that strongly about it but often I've notice that often people state their thoughts like it's such a shame it's not this way, but there are other viewpoints and I just wanted to point that out. I think it's great if doctors and other medical care professional offer their services for free or reduce price for people who can't afford and also for doctors and other health care providers to travel to impoverish countries to offer their services. And that's really great to give money to charities for this purpose. I hope you and your husband continue to assist this charity. Cheers, Of course its not free, its paid with tax. I personally wish that tax could be paid so that no-one in the world went without medical care, and that all basic necessities would be covered. Quite an utopia but there you go, thats me.
