This is an on the job injury and is covered under workers' compensation. The company has to either have their own (self insured) coverage or they will be covered under the state's workers' compensation program. In any event, this should be reported as an injury which occurred while on the job and thus medical expenses will be paid on the claim as well as wages for time lost from work due to the injury (which will be paid later and in a percentage amount). Your daughter can get the forms for filing the claim from the employer or the doctor's office, or through the state (this is pretty much how it works in every state). I have 25 years of working as a legal assistant, part of the time in the office of an attorney who represented injured workers in claims for workers' compensation as well as Social Security. Trust me - this has nothing to do with her probationary period AND they are legally not allowed to let her go because of her injury. Write me privately if I can be of any further help. jacqui
