Guest guest
Absolutely! I have never had heartburn. That is the most obvious symptom, but it is not the only symptom. There are many more subtle symptoms. These include hiccups, night time nausea, sore throat, hoarseness, increased asthma symptoms, post nasal drip, and runny nose. I had no idea all those were gerd symptoms until about six months ago. Of all people, a speech pathologist told me, not my gi. All this time I thought I was asymptomatic. I am not. I just don't have heartburn.MadelineConnected by DROID on Verizon Wireless Re: post nasal drip hi Madeline.can you have reflux without symptoms? Guest guest
I have been using Flutacasone for a number of years. I try not to use it any more than I have to. Because on my Symbicort insert it says not to use it together with the Symbicort. To: asthma Sent: Sunday, November 6, 2011 5:46 PMSubject: Re: post nasal drip Im sorry you are having this also..it is so annoying..how long before flonase worked for you...I have been on for tow days. jean > > I have been having those feelings too, where it is stuck in your throat, and you can't cough it up, never had it like that before. I use Flutacasone, it is a generic, of Flonase. I have sinus problems, and they mess up my asthma and my stomach.  I have noticed this last year that if my stomach is upset it causes my nasal passages to swell up and clog, and then my asthma kicks in, and then I am upchucking, and now I have gastritis, I already have a hiatal hernia, and stomach problems, which I take Prilosec for. It is getting worse, so I will have to go back to the Gastroenterologist, as well as my Pulmo Dr. It never seems to end. I noticed it happens every time I have been going out on my porch, or out in the car, I think a lot of it is pollen, and road dust. > > > > ________________________________ > > To: "asthma " <asthma > > Sent: Sunday, November 6, 2011 4:16 PM > Subject: Re: post nasal drip >
Guest guest
I'm in Forest Hills (Queens) and just wanted to say that I haven't felt as good as I've been feeling and would think it's because of the weather we're having. When my arthritis, Sjogren's & Lupus, asthma and everything else acted up it was when the weather was on the decline and/or we had windy and cold weather. It just went through my body. I just had my appt. with my pulmonologist the other day and this appt. was the first one after I saw my pulmonary hypertension specialist and I was fine. I know my lungs will act up once our weather begins to cool down and become nasty again and am savoring these days. We'll be in the 60's today and tomorrow 67+. They said Jersey will be in the 70's. We first begin to cool down on Friday -- too bad (sigh). In my case it's an allergic reaction, most likely to something environmental as it cleared up completely when I was on camp in summer, and then got even worse when I returned home. I think it's either dust or mould / mildew. I've been put onto flixonase - don't know if it goes by the same name in America or not.> > Jenn
Guest guest
Sharon, I am curious to know if you can differentiatate your asthma symptoms from the Pulmonary Hypertension. I have very minor asthma, mild PH and Tracheobroncomalacia. Our weather finally turned cold about a week ago and I've been very short of breath since then. This is my first winter since being diagnosed with PH and have been trying to figure out which of my issues are causing me the problem just now. It is not the asthma because it does not improve with nebulizers, so it is either the PH or TBM. How does your breathing change? How do you feel? How do you, or do you, know the difference? Thanks for helping to educate me. Mike McBride Live without pretending, love without depending, listen without defending and speak without offending. Anon. Guest guest
Mike, I don't know if I'm correct or not but in my opinion after doing something that will cause exertion either during or shortly afterwards I will get pain and pressure in the center of my upper chest that can last for a while and other times will fade away shortly after I sit down and not think about it. My pulmonologist did tell me that it could either be angina or PH and in order to know for sure I would have to go in for an angiogram and RHT - right heart catherization but all doctors feel that it's too risky for me and since it isn't that bad and I can wait on that. When I met with my PH doctor I was feeling better than I normally do and that was because I just finished a course of pred because of a Sjogren's flare. Back in early Sept. I started with 20mg. and every 5 days would decrease it by 5mg. until I got back to my maintenance level of 5mg. and met PH doc. right after that. What the PH doctor didn't like were my results from a test where I kept stepping up and down and my heart/blood system was measured with their computer program. It showed how that the pulmonary hypertension would happen during exercise or exertion. She said to me that if I feel the need to that I should come back but if I'm okay to wait until Dec/Jan. for my next visit. She also said that she wants for my cardiologist & pulmonologist to continue seeing me. When I saw my pulm. the other day the only thing he suggested was for me to have another PFT and I'll be doing that on Friday. Maybe you can answer this MIke. I would have thought that I would be sent for a PFT if or when my lung function isn't too good and I have shortness of breath and not when everything is going smoothly for me. I am dreading our weather changing and becoming nasty and cooling down because that's when my lungs will start acting up. What I wish I knew was how to tell the difference in my lungs as to whether my Sjogren's is what is bothering me or if it's the asthma. I can't go near any nebulizers or Albuterol and can't help but wonder if by my not using one of the two if that was how/why my PH levels increased. My rheumy keeps telling me that my lungs are okay and that my problem is the muscles surrounding my lungs are atrophied and that is why I will get the pain upon exertion. It may be both. But apart from that I wish I knew the difference from when my lungs stiffen up and then I'll get pain and that always happens on the bottom of my lungs and then the stiffness goes up.I don't know if you do any form of exercise but all I can tell you on my end was that for the longest time when I had the acid reflux I could not get on the floor to do matwork because the acid reflux would go up so I stopped exercising. Then after I saw my PH doctor, she was the one who told me that I can and should exercise but only very moderately and if I get the pain/pressure in the upper center of my chest -- sometimes off center pain would be on left other times on right side to stop. After that visit I saw my rheumy and my rheumy told me again that I should exercise including using my weights. Well, I used them and got the pain in center of my chest and stopped exercising once again but then when I saw my pulmonologist the other day he told me that if I get the pain to stop ... BUT that I should still continue using 5lb weights but to limit it and I did just that and so far have had no problem. Mike, there are things you can do on your own to keep your heart and lung function going and it's so important to. If you have any other questions feel free to ask. Oh, one more thing. You can look online at www.PHA.org and if that's not the correct site, google it and ask what the site is for Pulmonary Hypertension Organization. Then if you want, they have an 800 number where you can call and speak to someone. I spoke to people who had the condition far worse than mine but they are there to help you and are most informative ... much more than I am. I would make one suggestion though if you're interested. If you don't see enough information on their site then you should ask to become a member and then purchase their book because that book is a bible and will answer so many questions.Write me with any questions you may have anytime.SharonFrom:" McBride" Subject:Re: Re: post nasal dripDate:November 7, 2011 1:22:38 PM ESTTo:"asthma " <asthma >Sharon, I am curious to know if you can differentiatate your asthma symptoms from the Pulmonary Hypertension.
