Guest guest
If sulfites are a trigger, you may want to be cautious with wine-based foods like salad dressing because of the the high sulfite content. I have to avoid dried fruit with sulfites too. I can't eat raisins and limit my intake of grapes too since they have naturally occurring sulfites. Guest guest
I had an anaphylactic reaction to Balsamic vinegar back in 2006 because of the sulfites. Also used to react to the sulfites they sprayed on salads in the 70's until someone here in California died, and they prohibited the use of sulfites on lettuce. It is still allowed in other foods to maintain whiteness so I avoid dehydrated potato products, white veggies like cauliflower at a salad bar that can be treated, or even mushrooms. > > If sulfites are a trigger, you may want to be cautious with wine-based foods like salad dressing because of the the high sulfite content. Guest guest
It could be the sugar. I can't eat anything containing sugar before bedtime. Guest guest
LOL. The sulfite allergy pertains to a much larger percentage of asthmatics than you would guess. Sulfites have only been really looked at in the last couple of years and are not included on standard allergy tests (yet). I would suspect that once they do routinely test for sulfites the percentages will be fairly high. I do know how you feel about weird reactions though. My docs think I am part alien. I don't react to things I should and I react to all kinds of things that aren't normal. Go figure.Madeline On Thu, 29 Sep 2011 16:18:17 -0000, "njmom1boy" wrote: >Woke up 2x last night with asthma attack which is unusual for me. Guest guest
It's kind of ironic but my Epi-Pen that I carry for anaphylactic reactions contains sulfites! Maybe not any dumber than having prednisone prescribed for a severe allergic reaction that contains cornstarch that could trigger a reaction. Sigh.
