Guest guest
...I tried to respond to your post the other day but I dont see it..so here goes again.. I very rarely if ever am wakened by night time coughing unless I am sick...but right before/during or after a flare, I do get more of a morning cough that goes until I cough up some "gunk" or my meds kick in depending on the relation of when it happens to where I am with the flare. I also get migraines, but they are usually related to impending severe weather or a serious lack of sleep. When I get them, there are 3 things that will help me if I dont get advil in me right at the beginning...sleep and one of two bodily functions (to avoid grossing anyone out, Ill let you use your imagination here). Migraines are tough..especially so young. If his allergies arent being fully addressed, this may contribute to the migraine issue...I had bad allergies as a kid, but I dont remember if I had migraines or not as a child. I never got one until I gave myself a mild concussion and then after that I started getting them regularly for some time. They have backed way off in the last 10 yrs or so and now I only get them on occasion and I can usually tell that one is coming on. My guess is that your son definitely has some allergy/asthma components....especially with the eczema. The 3 definitely tend to go hand in hand. While your sons doc doesnt believe in Peak flow meters, they are often the first indication of an impending flare. My doctor never gave me one when I first was diagnosed, but I was able to get one in a pharmacy for around 20.00 and I taught myself how to use it. For me, it has become THE key factor in keeping my asthma under control. Since I havent flared in some time now, Ive relaxed on doing it daily, but I still check every few days. And Ive been able to tell now by how I feel when Im about to drop. Hopefully your son will be able to stay flare free!! Ann
Guest guest
Thanks so much for your replies! I am thankful he is not in a flare right now. Just when I think I've got it all figured out, something else comes up. Take care! -
