Guest guest
I know I don't have pneumonia, because I've had it before and remember what it feels like. Saturday I felt like someone has skewered me on a large pole and I just couldn't get rid of that pressure/pain sensation. It was like " Don't make me take a deep breath " but wasn't relieved with my rescue inhaler or use of the Serevent Discus. I'm assuming it was because of my allergy induced asthma with a week of high pollen counts and air pollution that made our sky gray instead of blue for three days. Finally the sky is blue once again and I'm not feeling as bad as I did two days ago. The pulmonologist has told me that he thinks I have mild to moderate pulmonary hypertension brought on by my severe sleep apnea. He wants to have me repeat the echocardiogram after I have treated my apnea for at least a month or two. Also have been taking Niaspan to treat genetically high cholesterol, another risk factor. I'm not really sure how I'm supposed to feel with PH except that I'd really like for it to disappear! JoAnn in SoCal
Guest guest
Amen to the PH disappearing!!!! I'm also not sure what the PH feels like since I feel like a ton of bricks are on my upper chest. Either it's the PH or else it's angina. One thing I know for sure and that is it happens all the time right after exercising - even light to moderate exercising. Meanwhile today all I did was use the treadmill at 3.0 like I always did but 20 min. later the pressure began and I had to stop. Even though I stopped the pressure is still with me now and it's 7PM & I walked around 1PM. In the PH book under the Exercise chapter it did state that if one feels pressure upon exercising to stop immediately and that is why I'm assuming what happened to me was/is PH. Of course PH specialist would know for sure if I had the RHC (right heart cath) as well as the angiogram done but at the moment my pulmonologist, cardiologist and now the PH specialist do not want me to have it done. PH doc said when she examined me and gave me the exercise test that my PH wasn't bad enough to warrant those tests "yet".....JoAnn with myself I think I can tell whether it's the asthma or the PH-angina because the pressure is in the upper center. If it were asthma I am assuming that the pain comes from various areas in my lungs and it feels like squeezing of my ribs. On top of everything else I occasionally get the pain from the pulmonary fibrosis and that is easy to detect because it only affects the bottom of my right lung and possibly the left lung too. Again, lots of luck to you tomorrow --Sharon/NY From:sjsrdh Subject: Whining and moaning!Date:October 17, 2011 3:49:03 PM EDTTo:asthma I know I don't have pneumonia, because I've had it before and remember what it feels like.
