Guest guest
I think the CFCs were phased out here ages ago. All the inhalers I've ever had, since being diagnosed in 2008, have been CFC free. Jenn Tha can tek t'lass outta Yorkshire...! Don't brand me, don't classify me, don't tell me what to wear. I'll be who I want to be, and I'm proud to be me.To: asthma Sent: Sunday, 2 October 2011, 22:43Subject: Re: Confused over ventolin ?I hadn't seen anything about Ventolin disappearing, only the OTC Primatine Mist which is epinephrine and used for mild asthma treatments. Here in the US the flurocarbon propellants are totally being phased out. The HFA propellants replaced flurocarbons in July, 2009 but Primatine got an extension. Now they won't be allowed to use fluorocarbon propellant any longer. It sounds like no one wants to fuss and expense of making it with the newer "green" FHA propellant. It's the one that tries to kill me when I use it so I've had to switch to a nebulizer instead. Folks who did well on Primatene will have to spend more money and get a prescription for the FHA inhalers now. Makes so much sense (NOT!) when our economy is the way it is and so many people are losing their health insurance. Of course my friends who can use the HFA propellant say it's hardly worth the name "propellant" because it doesn't have near the oomph of the old stuff. Personally I think it's a crock but obviously I don't get a vote.JoAnn (fuming in S. California)------------------------------------
