Guest guest
Additional information from the SOGC: The increased risk for breast cancer after five years of combined estrogen-progestin therapy is similar in magnitude to other lifestyle variables such as fewer pregnancies and reduced breast-feeding, postmenopausal obesity, excessive alcohol or cigarette use, and lack of regular exercise. – SOGC 2006 Menopause Consensus Report This organization of Canadian Dr’s is positive about HT by putting it in the same league as lifestyle risks. For some reason, I am finding the Canadian mainstream Dr’s to be more positive on the subject of HT even through cautious in recommending using all available lifestyle means to address hormone problems as well. The alternative community here is also much less enthusiastic on the subject of supplementary hormones. This seems to be quite the opposite of US websites etc. I suspect that there is some subtle cultural difference, perhaps in the contrasting health care / medical models. What I haven’t been able to find, is anyone except for Dr’s that sell advice and hormone supplements, who are claiming conclusively that HT will prevent BC or any other disease. Does anyone here have links to evidence based arguments that are logical (not preying on fears and emotions surrounding menopause I.E. Wiley) that supports HT/BHT for prevention? I have been studying the American Academe of Anti-aging Medicine at http://www.worldhealth.net/ even though they are very product focused, they point out almost everywhere on their website that exercise is pretty much the most beneficial anti-aging method. Meaning it competes well with all supplements, and medications in effectiveness. Dr. a Schwartz refers to research, but none of the links on her website work, so it is a lot of work to follow up and check her references.
