has written an outstanding book about living with anxiety called Things Might Go Terribly Horribly Wrong.  Tons of great stuff in there.

J, Thankyou for your reply,Yes it was Dr Todd Snyders website and I too couldn't read through the whole lot. I was abit dubeous too for the reasons you have stated- ie retarining your brain so I thought I would check. Thankyou also for the link for the list of books, I am currently working trough the Happyness Trap (steadily since March this year) and then I've got The Confidence Gap to start after that. However I was just looking for something specific to Social Anxiety that was A.C.T consistent. I've been putting defusion and expansion to use for the social anxiety and it is helping slightly so im hoping that once i've got connection under my belt things will improve further. I don't expect the feelings to go away- it's how i am-I would just like them not to rule my life anymore. Have you had

any experience of this? I ask  because I have put alot of time into other therapies such as C.B.T , T.A, D.B.T and various self help books, and I still have the same old problem, just hoping it won't be the sam with A.C.T.

Many Thanks, = )

There is a list of ACT self help books here

http://contextualpsychology.org/self_help_life_enhancement_resources

Its possible that there are other books which have elements of ACT or are ACT consistent, (there are also the more technical books aimed at professionals also listed on the site), but would have to have full title and author to be sure.

After a quick internet search, I wonder if you are looking at Dr Todd Snyder website? I couldnt bring myself to read the whole thing, but he does seem to be working from a place of ridding yourself of social anxiety (retraining your brain), which isnt entirely ACT consistent. I think the ACT perspective is more you might or might not have symptoms of social anxiety of varying severity, the point is to live your life anyway, to do what you really value doing, and take the anxiety along with you.

I did read some of the book. It does talk about acceptance and paradoxical

approaches to dealing with social anxiety symptoms. But it is more eclectic than

just being based on ACT as I recall.
