Hi

Welcome back you love computers when they work good for but when they break down or get a virus if you are like me my foot comes in handy. Ha Ha

Do you use a wheelchair all the time or is it a temporary thing? Are you able to get out of the home to do things with your MS troubles?

Bill

Hi " Bill " :

I use a power wheelchair since 1996 and get out quite often since the

town where I live is a 70% accessible thanks to the efforts of many

handicapped people living here.

Bill, my MS turned " nasty " in 1996 couldn't move for about 3 weeks

until finally the exacerbation relented its course and in reality,

never left. I drive very little with hand controls, had 3 or 4

attacks of ON leaving my eyes affected by the lights of the incoming

traffic.

I go to NYC,Manhattan to be more specific, have the PATH trains plus

the many ferries uniting Hoboken with downtown Manhhatan and mid-town.

My quality of life is good, very supportive wife and grown up

children sometimes I have to ask for some " space to breath " lol! but

I guess that beats the antithesis, right?

We have 3 children, Emmanuel is a lawyer, is an architect and

is living now for about 5 years in Paris and our daugther is an

Assistant Principal in Brooklyn NY, guess is a school for children

with emotional/physical problems. Myself I was a teacher for 31 years

until the MonSter forced me to retire.

Sorry I have taken so much time, thanks for welcoming me,

That is good your town does work well with handicapped people because I know many probably do not. The town I live in I can not make use the movie theater because it is not handicapped accessible. I use a walker to get around and I also have a hand control on both my truck and also van. I am glad they make hand controls because I love to drive. I am still new to MS since Aug of 99 when your MS went from being Relapsing-Remitting to Progressive how could you tell the difference or did your doctor tell you were now in a progressive mode?

Here is my personal web page about my own MS.

I'll visit you site in a while. Yes you are right there are

towns/cities that don't want handicapped people to me mobile, u

should be in the closet and with the lights off.

I had to really fight with the city in order to make the library

accessible.

I had a tremendously big exacerbation (worsening of symptoms)you

should consider that not 2 cases are the same nor the manifestations

at times reflect in any way. Continue doing what u r doing and keep a

positive approach, I know I do, I am 62 years old and plan to be

around for a while longer. I met a fellow 89 years old that had MS

since he was 35 years of age, if he didn't say it you would never

find out, that's the excellent shape he was! On the other hand I know

a 21 year old man that's gone blind within 1 month of dx'd.

So, like I said, be positive and continue living!

Peace
