Guest guest
Hi , I have recently had a female patient who couldn't sleep for pain and who found almost all conventional painkillers constipated her and make pain worse - although her pain relates to spinal problems brought on by years of heavy/awkward lifting (as nurse auxiliary) not MS and her diet was very poor - I asked her to take fish oil capsules and reduce caffeine by half by alternating her tea drinking with herbal teas of any kind and to try and take some green leafy veg every day. The mix I gave her had liquorice for adrenals, valerian, vervain and piscidia to aid sleep plus cimicifuga for arthritic pain/inflammation (also plantago and symphytum as she also had emphysema and a hiatus hernia). Because of her digestive problems I didn't use any sched IIIs to start with and was somewhat surprised when she came back having not needed any painkillers for 4 weeks (she did used to resort to them despite digestive issues most days). I'm not sure if it was the herbs or the changes to diet (still a long way to go there) and have now given her gelsemmium in a mix for night time as sometimes pain is still waking her but there may be a few ideas for you. In particular I would definitely work on the adrenals. Best wishes, a
