Guest guest
Some great ideas here! Anny in Australia I was thinking along the lines of one abs/glutes workout a week also, I hate them and have made a committment to do that anyway. I think rotating the focus from upper to lower is also a neat idea. I would rather do an abs workout than add extra situps. I hate push ups, but would be willing to start a count up of those. I was also thinking that since we have so many different level members, we might want to let each one set a numeric goal for the month and work toward that-the database would let each individual set their own number. Finally, We might want to think about an easy "food" theme or focus for each week like water, fruit, veggies, dairy, sugar free week, soda freeweek, chip free week to help us focus our eating? We could also have some fun reward days like at the end of each month have Cookie day or ice cream sunday??? (of course we could share recipes for some very decadent but lower sugar, lower fat varieties to use on those days if desired). Any other ideas out there? Delana. Guest guest
I like the parts about banishing negative thinking, about taking 15 minutes to meditate and about maintaining focus. Also doing the foundation tape or other introductory tape once or twice a week to improve techiniqe is never a bad idea. But when you start talking about 250 pushups to someone who is lucky to do 20 in a row, and that after doing 64 reps each of multiple arm resistance exercises makes me personally feel defeated before even starting. Which is one reason I don't go to the official tae bo site any more. The type of challenges they have there are so far above my level of strength that it makes me feel overwhelmed, and also makes me feel it is ludicrous to think I will ever be able to complete a boot camp workout all the way through using the bands, let alone be able to complete 's bootcamp in person and become a tae bo instructor if I have to be strong enough to do that kind of work out...sorry, I know that is negative thinking big time, but I also know that if I try to take too big a step, I will end of avoiding working out all together either because I hurt too much physically or mentally. Perhaps we should approach it like the old president's physical fitness program. Let's pick a start day. ON that day, everybody would go through an instructional tape. Then, they would do as many pushups and situps as they can and record as a starting point. If they want to, they can also record weight or measurements, and set a numeric goal for the number of workouts they want to finish by the end of the 3 month challenge period. We could still record our workouts daily, have a food theme each week, make a committment to one abs and glutes workout a week, whether just doing situps and squats or using a structured tape, and doing as many pushups as we can daily, trying to build on what we were able to do the last day. We could then repeat the foundation/evaluation day process the first week of every month and record our progress toward our goals. Specifically, I would propose we start the first week january, Meaning everyone would complete their foundation/evaluation session by the 7th with re-evaluation due feb4th, march4th and april 1st. Food focus: Week 1, water (6-8 glasses per day) Week 2, veggies (5 servings per day) Week 3, fruits (3 servings per day), Week 4, dairy (skim or 1%, 3 servings a day), week 5, fiber (25 grams per day), week 6, protein, (25-35% of your total calories), week 7, sugar free Week 8, chip free (healthy snacks only), Week 9, water and veggies, Week 10, fruits and dairy, Week 10, fiber and protein, Week 11 sugar/chip free, week 12, pull it all together! I will try to set up the database for all who are interested, but may have to call for help, as I have never done that before. Please send me your name if you want to be added, or you can add it yourself once the data base is posted. Also send any comments or modifications. Happy New Year. We've had a Wednesday Abs/Glute Challenge for years...we get started good then I think we all end up dropping out. But it is a really good challenge ! But it's definitely good to have some other things added in there posted the January Challenge the other day...this might help some folks as well MONTHLY CHALLENGE 's New Year's Resolution for YOU - Rejuvenation The New Year's Resolution Challenge is to put any negative thoughts, ideas and suggestions in check! The first step is to create a check list. On the list will be your mission, and this year you are going to accomplish and finish that mission! Get up every morning and have a 10 -15 minute meditation or prayer time to clear your mind and make sure you get your will in line with what you have to do each day. You can start by making sure that whether it's a 15-minute, 30-minute or 60-minute workout that you are truly there! No distractions! If you get distracted, write it down on your check list. Then see how many times you were unfocused. Alright, here we go! Back to the Basics! * Get the Foundation tape <http://www.billyblanks.com/store_main.asp?#05-51245> , and do it twice a week. * Follow this workout by a 's Power Round workout <http://www.billyblanks.com/store_main.asp?#05-51323> for your cardio. * Strength train with your Bands <http://www.billyblanks.com/store_main.asp?#05-50124> for 15 minutes . * Military press in a 4 point stance 4 sets of 1 * Butterfly 4 sets of 16 * Standing chest flies 4 sets of 16 * Upright rows 4 sets of 16 * Alternating leg flies 4 sets of 16 * 100 stationary punches w/ correct technique * 50 jabs on each side * 250 sit ups * 250 push ups * Cool down with a good10-minute stretch * Finish by capturing the power of what you just did. Take 5 minutes to go through your check list and see if you accomplished your goal. If not, write it down! I was thinking along the lines of one abs/glutes workout a week also, I hate them and have made a committment to do that anyway. I think rotating the focus from upper to lower is also a neat idea. I would rather do an abs workout than add extra situps. I hate push ups, but would be willing to start a count up of those. I would probably separate them from my regular workout, because I would want to be fresh and realy work on technique. Since I am now working out in the afternoon, I would do some stretching then pushups in the morning. Start out with the number I can do with proper tecnique and then add one a day and see how high I can get. I was also thinking that since we have so many different level members, we might want to let each one set a numeric goal for the month and work toward that-the database would let each individual set their own number. Some people may feel overwhelmed by a goal of 5 per week, and some of us may do better if we set our sights on 6 per week instead. Finally, We might want to think about an easy " food " theme or focus for each week like water, fruit, veggies, dairy, sugar free week, soda freeweek, chip free week to help us focus our eating? Guest guest
Greetings to Delana and All Members! I am with you, Delana! I don't do well with what I consider to be a standardized baseline. I like the idea of establishing individual baselines and working from there. I don't know if you have set up the database, but I will join the challenge. I must admit that I am so burned out with my tae bo tapes right now. Does anyone know if there is a new series coming out because I need something fresh and new. I have been doing the Kukuwa Dance Workout because it is so different from tae bo but I plan to return to tae bo once I get over being burned out. I have failed to have enough variety and now I am paying for it. My best wishes to you all and I look forward to this new challenge! Peace and Love Tyra RE: almost finished... Guest guest
Hey Delana! Thank you for adding me to the database. I have Get Ripped Basic and Advanced. I rarely do the basic because they don't give me the sweat that I need. I do them when I need a light day. I have Bootcamp (All of the workouts). Also, I have Tae Bo Extreme, which I don't do because I do not care for that workout too much. And lastly I have the Fat Blasters which I really like. I never used to get burned out on tae bo. I think that the truth is that before I had children, my main form of workout was African Dance and I am missing that because the last two workouts that I ordered were African Dance vids. Tae bo has suited me well because it makes me sweat as much as my dance classes did. I won't give up on tae bo because I truly do love it. I just have to make sure that I have variety, especially during the winter months when I may not be able to get out and run/walk. Peace and Love Tyra RE: almost finished... I have posted the data base and will add you if you are not already there. Which tae bo tapes do you have? I rarely get burned out on tae bo,

Guest guest
I love to dance, one of the things I miss in 's newer workouts is real music. He played more of that in the advanced live series and in his inspirational tapes. I don't remember about the get ripped, will have to do one of them soon...Delana. ________________________________ From: tae-bo_on on behalf of Mother Earth (Tyra) Sent: Mon 1/2/2006 9:49 PM To: tae-bo_on Subject: Re: almost finished... Guest guest
The get ripped workouts, especially the basic, have GREAT music! I agree, the music in the newer workouts is not as good although I do like the 's Bootcamp song. Peace Tyra RE: almost finished...
