I agree with you. I already put a call in to ENT's receptionist and asked if I can come in on Monday and hopefully she will say yes. But now that I'm thinking about it I wanted to see this ENT on Monday morning of last week and I think she said that he's in the hospital on Mondays' visiting patients or else doing surgery and doesn't have office hours. Hi Sharon,I would be so frustrated in your shoes. Sounds like it is time to bring in a different doc. Hi Madeline,That's just it -- that's my point because my rheumy is both my primary and rheumatologist ... Also she IS an internist so go figure! I will never be told the truth but what I think happened is that when I started with her going on 15 years ago she was a practicing rheumy who offered to be my primary also and felt that it would be less complicated if she would have all of my records and if/when necessary would refer me to other doctors or testing but in these last couple of years I know she became a Professor of Rheumatology in the NYU Medical school and then for all I know, she may be in line to become the head of the department. She used to call me at home anytime I needed her but now her phoning patients at home is only a memory. What really made up my mind to start looking for someone else was when I was in the ER and then was told to stay overnight I asked the head nurse on the floor if she could notify her that I was in the hospital, hoping for a phone call but that never happened. Then after I came home I called her office, left a message and all I said was that I was just calling to touch base with her and receptionist only said that all she can do is take messages. Meanwhile, she never did call me which I feel is so wrong it isn't funny. - so sorry you are going through this. It seems like the doctors need to work better together for your best interest. Can you have that conversation with them once you feel better?

I will only be on here for a minute because I am still very sick.  When I came home from er & hospital apparently I caught something that turned into a very bad throat (strep) and every single gland swelled.  Thought after antibiotics for 3 days that I would be able to shake it but am just as bad.   caught strep throat from me and was also put on the z pack and apparently germs are in apartment and can't shake it.....   

You won't believe this but when I complained to rheumy that I was still sick last week she told me to go to an ENT and I did but the day I saw ENT he told me that throat looked much better to him and he sent that note back to rheumy.  Well, today I have 99.1 at 4pm and hope it doesn't go up more by tonight but infection is in mouth, glands, throat and chest again.  I can't believe this.... Rheumy doesn't have hours on Friday and receptionist had to fax her about my 99.1 and rheumy faxed or called her back to tell her to tell me that I should go back to the ENT.  What B.LLS!!!!  I can't believe it.  Thought she would be telling me to be in Rheumy's office Monday morning but that didn't happen ....

There is never an excuse for putting yourself and your personal goals ahead of others. Especially for a doctor. It is definitely time for you to move on. I know how bad it feels to be without a good physician you trust. I have recently found someone (not local - an hour away from my house) who I trust. It has been a long long search.MadelineTo:

I totally agree with finding a new doctor. And don't get discouraged if it takes a little while to find the right one, because when you do, you will be so much happier and possibly healthier.

anytime I needed her but now her phoning patients at home is only a memory.    What really made up my mind to start looking for someone else was when I was in the ER and then was told to stay overnight I asked the head nurse on the floor if she could notify her that I was in the hospital, hoping for a phone call but that never happened.  Then after I came home I called her office, left a message and all I said was that I was just calling to touch base with her and receptionist only said that all she can do is take messages.  Meanwhile, she never did call me which I feel is so wrong it isn't funny.    I know not to take this personally because it seems that she is devoting her time and practice to other things that are more lucrative for her????

Hi Sharon,I would be so frustrated in your shoes.  Sounds like it is time to bring in a different doc.  Maybe an internal specialist as they tend to look at the whole picture and not just the pieces.

I will only be on here for a minute because I am still very sick.  When I came home from er & hospital apparently I caught something that turned into a very bad throat (strep) and every single gland swelled.  Thought after antibiotics for 3 days that I would be able to shake it but

am just as bad.   caught strep throat from me and was also put on the z pack and apparently germs are in apartment and can't shake it.....   You won't believe this but when I complained to rheumy that I was still sick last week she told me to go to an ENT and I did but the day I saw ENT he told me that throat looked much better to him and he sent that note back to rheumy.  Well, today I have 99.1 at 4pm and hope it doesn't go up more by tonight but infection is in mouth, glands, throat and chest again.  I can't believe this.... Rheumy doesn't have hours on Friday and receptionist had to fax her about my 99.1 and rheumy faxed or called her back to tell her to tell me that I should go back to the ENT.  What B.LLS!!!!  I can't believe it.  Thought she would be telling me to be in Rheumy's office Monday

I got my flu shot yesterday. I have been doing well today. I had a rough time with it last year because the seasonal vaccine was combined with the H1N1 vaccine. This year, so far, no problems with feeling bad.

My doctor is very sensitive to my concerns. She said she would give me a small test to see if I responded. Then I would only get 1/2 and we would wait 30 minutes before we administered the next 30 minutes if everything went okay.
