Guest guest
I had a patient who came in with 'persistent thrush infections'. She wasn't on any orthodox meds, and I started treating her. Some of her vague symptoms improved, but not her 'vaginal problems'. When she came in to say she had got some meds off the GP and they hadn't worked either, I insisted she get a swab done. She eventually did and all tests came back negative. The GP hadn't even bothered. But it taught me a lesson not to just assume the GP was right. Her symptoms had been vague and I couldn't pin point what her discharge was. I had a hard job separating her remembrance of what thrush had been like when she'd had it before, and the symptoms which she is getting now. When push came to shove it wasn't really a discharge, but just itching, soreness and burning on intercourse. I am now treating her for more menopausal symptoms... And hey! I'm in Clinic writing this, and a woman has walked in off the street with exactly the same symptoms and made an appointment for a full consultation.
