Guest guest
Bob...Please elaborate on the other blood work numbers if you will. I am trying Atkins and it has really helped everything but I am waiting to check on the blood work until July to give it a chance to do the work if it is going to. My Trycliserides(sp) have historically been very very high and cholesterol also. I like the diet but if the numbers don't go down I will have to do something else.......Kathie (bishop3@...) Next appointment I'll have an a1c, and a new test (can't remember the name but it's for inflamation in the vascular system). With these numbers, I've made an appointment for a class 3 FAA medical. Hope I pass it...if I don't it will be for reasons other than the diabetes. Bob -- Bob Litty rdlitty@... littyrd@...

Really heavy restrictions on IDDM as far as the FAA is concerned. I got with my endo and WE decided to try Atkins. The rest is history. Lipids improved, weight started down, BGs in normal range. Mornings are a little dicey, fbg is sometimes as high as 110. Bob -- Bob Litty rdlitty@... littyrd@...

Wonderful numbers, Bob. How long have you been doing Atkins? Meenie
Guest guest
Meenie, Started 27JAN00. 07FEB00 I discontinued insulin. 09FEB00 I dc'd the orals. I have increased my carb intake and weight started up again so I've gone back to about 30 gm. cho/day. BTW, I also hit the treadmill for 2 30 min. sessions/day. My BGs run 75-95 usually. Don't get much higher PP and are always recovered in 2-2.5 hr.. Bob PS. Saw the endo Tue. (13th). He warned me that the pancreas would eventually wear out (I'm 67...last Tue. as a matter of fact) but I'm going to ride the horse as long as it will run. Meenie wrote: > Wonderful numbers, Bob. Guest guest
Thats awesome, Bob If you're interested, there is a great support group for Atkins thru egroups, it's Atkins_Support_List. They trade recipes, hints, tips, etc. The listmom is great, and there are folks there who have lost over 100 lbs on this. It isn't a diabetic list but there are several posters who are diabetic.
