Guest guest
I have been treating a 57 year old man for chronic bronchitis and asthma for a short time and he is so pleased with his progress he calls it his miracle medicine. He has asked me if I can 'cure' him as he is looking at his long term prospects. He has a Hx of respiratory problems most of his life including TB as a child. The problems with asthma started while he lived in Los Angeles as a teenager which is a very smog- ridden city. His lung sounds are typical of an asthmatic, but I can't determine how much his lungs are damaged. He has been on steroid inhalers for a very long time, is breathless often and has a particularly wracking cough which is a constant problem. With my medicine he said he didn't need his inhaler for 4 days. He says, 'The miracle medicine you made for me, do you think it could cure my condition with my lungs or can it arrest the condition? It really works amazingly well. I am asking the question because I need to get a mid to long term look at the situation.' I wrote back, 'If you have emphysema then it can improve the situation but not cure, as it is a non-reversible condition. Asthma and chronic bronchitis are both reversible conditions but it can take time, and for severely damaged lungs I don't know how far the repair can go.' He has been told that he doesn't have emphysema. However, I want to be realistic as he has had these problems so long. To be honest I am a bit surprised the meds worked at all [i didn't tell him that]. After I emailed him my response he replied, ''The remedy you made for me some time ago do you think that it would cure my condition or only arrest it. I need to now because I am looking at my situation both medium and long term.' I think he wants a measurement that I cannot give. How would people respond? How can we give a prognosis? I just think he has a chance of improvement with herbs, while orthodox meds just deal with his symptoms. Maggie
