Sometimes you may have damn fine doctors... but one does something that will conteract the other and vice versa. Keep a manifest of ALL perscriptions that you have. Your pharmacist (if you get your perscriptions filled the same time and same place) will be able to provide this. I carry a three ring binder to all doctor appointments. I keep my own notes. I ask for copies of all medical records... I carry this three ring binder with me when I travel. It has my glucose and shot logs. It has meal plans in it... as well as carbo counts for my favorite fast foods and etc. Remember, you have to take an AGRESSIVE position on this disease... or it will kick your can. Never accept an answer you are not satisfied with... make your doctor's expand on things. And make sure you get copies of all your records to carry with you if you see more than one specialist. --- WebBBS Pro v1.14 : The Hearth Pub ( http://hearth.dynip.com/ )
Guest guest
Keeping handy records is an excellent suggestion, . I work in a hospital and it is amazing how many patients we get that have no idea of what meds they are taking and no idea of what they are allergic to! It makes treating them difficult at best. These are things that are very necessary to good treatment should you land in the ER. Another good idea is to write them on a small card then tuck it in your wallet with your insurance card.
