Anyway-- I have great respect for anyone who has had to grow up with this disease. I am a " needle-phobic " who has always avoided the doctor because of that fear. I now have to give myself 3 to 4 shots a day. It took six months to overcome the overwhelming fear. In the three months before I was diagnosed I had severe wrist pain and hand pain. Now it comes and goes but it is not near as severe-- Could this have anything to do with diabetes? Hi , my name is Lloyd Schwartz I was diagnosed with type 1 when I was 9

months old. I am 29 years old and I have been through everything for from

hypoglycemia to coma (twice), I am now on the board of directors with JDF

South Saskatchewan Region. I have a similar problem in my lower legs and

feet, I was told by my neuro that it was due to the blood vesseles not

moving as much blood as they were a fer years ago. This was my diagnases I

strongly recommend that you go to your family doctor and get referals to an

endo and a neuro (if you haven't already.) It may be nothing but with

Diabetes as you know don't take any chances. If you want any moer info you

can contact me via the group or if it is of personal nature e-mail me at

ljs101can@... and I will be glad to help you out.

I wish you all the best.

Lloyd Schwartz

, somehow I missed your message. The muscles for the fingers are

back in the wrist/arm. They move fingers through tendons moving in

sleeves, carpal tunnels. I was advised not to bend fingers back, but to

keep a curl in them, so as not to tug on the tendons.

rather than have operations, look into the use of DMSO. Sam

Lloyd,

Thanks for the advice, I have talked to my endo about my wrists one time

and he thought I may need to go to a rheumatologist. I am an artist and

musician (guitar and piano), so I am now wondering if it could be carpal

tunnel. If it is something else like blood vessel problems---Is that what a

vascular problem is? What kind of treatment is the standard for that?

I can't imagine growing up with diabetes. It is so hard having it as an

adult. Sometimes having this disease really stresses me out! Do you have

any pointers for coping? I bet it was really scary having a coma from

hypoglycemia. That is one of my many fears.

Thanks again for the advice on my wrists,

B.

What is DMSO, Sam , and how does it help carpal tunnel? Is it some sort of

supplement? I know I've heard of it in the past but can't quite bring it to

the fore :)

> What is DMSO

DMSO is a solvent made from woodpulp. It is used as a lineament for horses.

That is the only legal use in the US and can only be purchased in tack

shops. In Canada it is used for human for arthritis, muscle strains, etc.

My husband has used it for bursitis in his shoulder. Dr. said he couldn't

legally recommend it but said " if he was in enough pain he would try

anything " . We used it for our horses so we had some on hand. It worked

very well but let me worn you. There is a big draw back, it gives you

smoked oyster and garlic bo and breath. It travels thru you skin and into

you blood system in minutes. You get the taste in you mouth and can't get

rid of it. It has to flush out naturally. If you put it on your arm drink

lots of water. Carbonated drinks make it worse.

good luck
