Guest guest
I am getting ready to schedule my surgery for June. That's when hubby is off for the summer (he teaches) and my in-laws are both retiring this year so they will be available to help with the kiddos while I recover. I have a few questions I was wondering if some of you could answer as I try to suck up my fear and get this done! It's still hard when I have good days and think, " Maybe I can get through this " it makes it easy to forget about the days when I can't remember much, leave on the stove, make the same wrong turn three times trying to get to an appointment, and all of the physical stuff. Anyway. I thought I read that different anesthesia is used for decompression surgery as it is considered a brain surgery. That it is a lighter anesthetic. IS that true? How long did it take some of you to come around from the anesthesia? How many hours is the surgery on average for a smaller herniation (under 6)? Did the recovery seem to be closer to a whole 6 weeks? A month? Thanks...just trying to get over my fear of being put under and the surgery itself!
