Autumn herb walks/ workshops

After five herb walks this summer i was flagging for inspiration, but now feel

inspired again seeing the berries ripening out there. Also inspired by Donna

Winstons workshop at herbfest on medicinal liquirs, elixirs and wines.

Nervous about using duty free alc for making liquirs to sell to the public as

they could be seen as borderline medicinal/recreational , i guess it depends on

labelling.

I find it quite hard to keep up with marketing my new practise constantly, but i

know that the walks are working for getting my name out there as a practitioner.

I think i am going to do a series of workshops focussing on one berry at a time.

Starting with Elder, then hawthorn, rosehip and sloe.

I'm going to start a National Hawthorn berry day (somebody somewhere has got to

make these things up ) but when do you reckon hawthorn is ready to pick ? I live

on the south coast in Sussex so its going to be one of the earliest. But i want

to advertise the workshop now.

Also i want to make a raw hawthorn pulp thing, that i once saw Ray Mears make ,

but can't find a recipe on the interweb. Has any one made one and can give me

instructions.

I'll make a hawthorn liquir as well, though a good fresh 1:1 doesn't need any

sweetener its such a good taste.

Is any one else doing similar workshops this autumn, send us a link to your

advert if you are please.

For the elder a wine and a rob will be made .

For the rose hip a syrup ? maybe a jelly, but i find people are freaked out by

the levels of sugar needed for syrups.

lots of love Haskel
