Guest guest
Question asked about Autoimmune problems. I had written about Joanna Reid, one of CCI's moderators. Joanna has had difficulties fighting infection since we met several years ago. She had her throat tonsils out this past year and had a horrible infection afterwards. I may have said autoimmune when it should have been immune system. She also has EDS which already complicates healing. With her immune problems she is unable to fight infection. She was diagnosed this past year, and this answered many of the questions surrounding her constant infections. Unfortunately, EDS causes her surgical site to open, then they chase it with antibiotics and eventually infection sets in, threatening the fusion hardware. She is also fighting very high ICP, her pressure was off the manometer, it was over 57. The only thing that can be done right now would be repeat LP's to remove CSF. They can't put a shunt in because of the infection. She still has great spirits after months of battle. Here is a link that many might learn from about autoimmune and the immune system http://tiny.cc/Lf6s6 Not to say any of you are Dummies, but I find much of what they write is very understandable.
