Guest guest
Always on the look out for a helpful med for bronch, I was interest in reading about your medication Suffatrim and looked it up on the net. I found this article from the London Times exposing deaths and injuries in the UK from this drug and thought you might like to read about it. I also have bronchiectasis and have had it for about 8 years more or less. This sulfatrim has kept my bronchiectasis in check and I have been symptom free for 6 months and it's such a relief. However I dont know what the future holds and would like to know those of you who use herbs and other substances what you are using and how much of each. Before the sulfatrim I was in terrible condition. Had pneumonia 4 times and was on antibiotics every month for a week or 10 days each month. Had tremendous amounts of mucus and coughed constantly. It was terrible. Hate to go back to that. Would appreciate any help you can offer. Looking for last minute shopping deals? Find them fast with Yahoo! Search. Guest guest
I was very surprised at this article. I've been taking bactrim twice a week for 10 years and I can truthfully say this is what is keeping me alive. I take one on Mon. and one on Thursday. I get very few infections now but before that I was constantly getting pneumonia and colds. I wasn't able to find the bad effects in that article. I'm curious, what are they? So far I haven't had any side effects, but I still would like to know what they are. Guest guest
I'm glad that it has helped you, however I don't know anything about this medication except what was in the article. Guest guest
Eileen, I went back to the article and did read some disturbing news. From what I gather from it is that the drug companies combined bactrin (a sulphur based chemical) with trimethoprim. It's the bactrim that is doing the damage. According to the doctors, the trimethoprim alone was as good. I understand that it was a money making proposition to combine the two different drug companies that manufactured these drugs so they wouldn't be in competition with each other. As I mentioned in my last email to you, I've been taking bactrim for 10 years but after reading the article, I'm going to discuss this with my doctor and see if I can take something else. Thank you for being so alert. Guest guest
thanks for the tip on the internet. I read all the horror stories but this medicine has done wonders for me and I can only hope for the best. I take blood tests and thats all I can do Nothing else has helped me so far. With sulfatrim I'm in perfect health. So I have to take the risk. I see the doctor in March and then we'll see what he suggests. This is a terrible disease and no one seems to have the answer.June Re: herbs and natural substances for bronchiectasis Always on the look out for a helpful med for bronch, I was interest in reading about your medication Suffatrim and looked it up on the net. Guest guest
As long as it is helping you and your Dr. monitors you, I'm sure you will be fine.
